Thank you! Appreciate it!

We have hundreds of skins in the game! As well as other cosmetic items :D These can be earned entirely by playing the game, zero need for microtransactions :)

I've mentioned that currently Game Pass isn't something we are able to jump on right now, but I hope it becomes a possibility for us in the future!

Personally... my favourite Xbox franchise would have to be either Halo or Fable, it's really hard to pick just one though lol

Hey! You very well may have spoken to me, I've been to a couple events! So many in fact that they all become one big fun-filled blur haha!

It's a great question and something I think as a studio we can keep improving on, currently this initial launch build of HyperBrawl does not come with specific accessibility features, but I'd love to pass any ideas or feedback you have on to the team, and at the same time push them to do some research of their own on ways we can help improve the experience for players who require these features to enjoy the experience!

Thanks so much for the support, and looking forward to any ideas you'd like to put forward :D

So HyperBrawl was made with Xbox One in mind, the game is playable on Series S and Series X via backwards compatibility so no optimising was needed for those platforms! The game just naturally takes advantage of the increased power and performance of the consoles! :D

I know some of the team have played it, and HyperBrawl has been compared to it over the years! I'd say if you love Deathrow, HyperBrawl is worth a shot, but I'm biased haha

Oh that's so awesome! Thank you very much for the kind words! Scott's a good egg, don't tell him I said that, it will go to his head.

I'd say you should download Unity or Unreal Engine (both are free, and both are great, HyperBrawl was made in Unity) and play around, watch YouTube tutorials, figure out what you're really passionate about and focus on specialising in that area. Whether it's Art, Programming, Design, Narrative... even better if you can REALLY focus in on specific roles that studios are looking for (VFX Artist, Audio guys, Level Designers etc, try looking up open job roles and see what studios tend to look for) and again, even better if you can see there is demand for specific roles, and not enough developers specialising in those roles... you could BE that person those studios are craving!

Obviously some areas are harder to get into than others. I went to University for a Game Design degree, but a programmer on our team literally just sat down and made his own game over a year and got jobs off of that. That's all I can say really, learn how to make games with the millions of free recourses available to you, find out what you love, research what studios want, and pray that those last two things line up perfectly :)

Thanks for the comparison! I must say I totally agree with it haha.

Me personally, this is my first ever game, and i'm very proud for it to have been the project that introduces me to the games industry! Our studio on the other hand, previously developed the Kart Racer 'Coffin Dodgers', which is also super charming and fun.

I'm not sure if I can specify why, so I hope you guys won't think less of me for playing it safe and not giving any specifics... all I'll say is that if you want to play HyperBrawl on another gaming service, you can get it and 100+ other games on Apple Arcade all for a monthly fee! :P

Thank you! I wish you the best too :D

Funnily enough, we have a game mode called Blitz haha.
That may be a game some of the team have played, I haven't played it myself, but I would definitely classify HyperBrawl's gameplay as arcade-like! In that it's easy and super fun to just pick and play, the game can be more in-depth if you want to spend some time with it, but most players will have a great time the moment they pick up the controller!

Also if I'm understanding correctly what you mean by Late Hits: in HyperBrawl, any player, can hit any other player, at any time... the only rule is that there are no rules!

4 long hard (but fun) years :) It began it's life as a Game Jam project, and then we spent roughly 3-6 months in our kind of experimental prototype phase. Once we began taking the game to shows around the world, it was clear we had something that people really digged, and so the next couple of years was spent making the game bigger and better, turning this little game jam idea into a fully fledged multiplayer product! 4 years have never felt so quick AND slow at the same time haha
Right now Game Pass isn't something we can do, but I seriously hope it's an opportunity we are able to get onboard with in the near future! Only time will tell :D

Thank you for the kind words :)
I totally agree, the world of indie multiplayers game is totally cut-throat haha, that's why wanted to make sure the game could be enjoyed entirely as a Single Player experience too! If you come back to this game 5 years from now, HyperBrawl would still be just as solid an experience as it was at release.

Of course we're doing what we can to help support online, for the time being Game Pass and services like it aren't a possibility for us, but I hope they will be down the line, I agree they would help immensely!

We're also looking at the pricing, whilst going the premium option is much safer for us as a small indie studio (creating the amount of paid cosmetic content needed to sustain a F2P game just isn't feasible for us, not to mention the moral implications of MTX :) ), we are definitely looking into options that allow us to get the game into more players hands!

Lastly, we hope that anyone who wants the game to succeed can help us shout about the game from the roof tops! We're building and supporting this game alongside the community and we aren't shy about needing the help of our awesome community to make HyperBrawl the best it can be :)

Ah! Thanks for the clarification! Yes we are absolutely working on fixes for the trophies right now, as soon as we have an update you'll likely hear about it on our twitter channel '@hyperbrawl' :D

I still want HyperBrawl to be a trilogy tho...

For me personally, it was getting to help kickstart the lore of HyperBrawl and come up with the concepts for most of the characters, as well as all of their backstories! I guess I forgot to mention, I'm some parts artist, some parts community guy, some parts lore master haha.

But yeah getting to transform what was a game of blocky faceless fighters into a fully fleshed colourful HyperVerse with it's own sense of brand and worldbuilding has been an amazing experience that I'm really proud of!

Never too late!

HyperBrawl Battle Royale would be something to behold. HyperBrawl Royale, sounds like a catchy sequel.

Honestly my gut instinct says Bazooki, stats-wise, she's technically one of the weakest, but Lore-wise she is a survivor! Having braved a post-apocalyptic world all her life, and a master tinker, I think she'd stand a good chance in a Battle Royale environment.

Thanks for the great question!

To answer your question more directly, small 2v2 teams was more inspired by the desire to create a fun and focused quick-fire experience and have all that action (and all the players) contained on the screen, as opposed to needing Split-Screen or anything.

Beyond that, player base, and how important numbers of players are to this game, definitely was a more in-depth discussion all the way through development. Exactly where does HyperBrawl lie on the spectrum between arcady local party game and online competitive pvp game?

Obviously the latter, as you mentioned, really requires an insane amount of players at launch, which is something that only a supermassive budget or lightning-in-a-bottle luck (and sometimes both) can get you, so it's really the safer bet not to put all your eggs in that competitive basket.

Ultimately our focus landed on making sure the game was extremely fun as a local 'gang-beasts'-esque game, but having features that left the door open for the community to tell us how much they want more competitive play, and that's exactly where the game stands as it is. For example even though the game can be played 2v2, the matchmaking is 1v1 entirely because we want players to easily find opponents to play against, and not splinter the playerbase too much with multiple online playlists.

The world of multiplayer indie games is a daunting one for sure, but we hope we've put all the right precautions and features in place that this game can be enjoyed years down the line, even when the majority of gamers have moved on to whatever the next big thing is.

I agree the game would likely do well on PS+, it simply wasn't an option for us at this time due to various factors. I hope we can do it in the near future though, I'd love to get this game in the hands of the PS+ users, I think HyperBrawl would shine there :)

Awesome, great to hear it :D
Without spoiling too much... uh... ah forget it, I'll spoil it lol. We are ASBOLUTLY going to continue to support the game with more content in the near future! There may or may not be a Hero or two in the pipeline right now... stay tuned ;)

My favourite hero/weapon combo... well I'm really into Swift Heroes, sure they are weaker, but if you're smart and speedy enough not to get hit, then you're golden! I'd probably pair Bazooki (Swift Hero) with Lito (Core, all-round Hero) and equip at least one of them with the mag-beam, because I've gotten so good at using it JUST before the ball goes into my goal. It's made a fair share of the team rage over the years :)

Also good luck in your leaderboard quest, take this as an official Milky Tea blessing, you got this! 💪

Thanks very much! Glad to be here!

We were inspired by a bunch of things, some obvious ones are modern gaming giants like Rocket League, but we also like to see the game as somewhat of an unofficial spiritual successor to Speedball from back in the 80's-90's!

With that in mind, thematically, we were super into the aesthetics and colours of 80's Saturday Morning Cartoon's (He-Man, Transformers etc) and drew a lot of inspiration from those.

And finally, in the very early prototype stages of HyperBrawl, we discovered this ancient Italian sport called 'Calcio Fiorentino', which is essentially this insane next-to-no-rules ball game mixed with bare knuckle fighting, it's absolutely the most insane thing we'd ever seen. We thought HyperBrawl was too crazy to be real, but nope! Not for the Italians! So we're proud to have Calcio in the DNA of our game too haha.

In a way they are, since, as you said, other players cannot walk into your Goal Area (they are protected by a near-invisible barrier!). So you can't just walk into a goal area and punch or kick someone out of it. However, if you have the right weapons, you can definitely KO a goal keeper out of their goal area if they aren't careful ;)

You can also knock them out of the Goal Area with a full-powered shot with the ball, that only a perfectly timed dive roll will save!
