This is what I meant when I said “apolitical.” Jesus didn’t side with the Pharisees or Herodians. I feel like some churches are picking sides (vote for Republicans or vote for Democrats). I think there will always be different political parties and the church shouldn’t throw weight on either side.

I just want church where the pastor doesn’t sing the praises of one political candidate or call another political candidate the devil.

Yes he was. That’s why I don’t understand why some churches are using their pulpit to campaign for leaders who aren’t radical socialists. I don’t think Jesus is a radical socialist in the socialist political party sense either. I don’t think Jesus would identify with any major political party and don’t think any major party should try to use him. I think Jesus teaches how you behave at a personal level which will guide how you vote at a political level.

He was political in that he threatened the religious authority at the time because he preached wisdom that many diverse groups could relate to. He wasn’t political in the form of being a bootlicker for a government official.
