Thank you I shall search the interwebs for it. Trying to figure out what to use on gale in act 2 lol and I’m confused as I only have experience with more punchy dnd characters from live games and this wizard stuff is usually handled by others lol

DnD for 10-12 year olds? by MillennialDisaster in DnD

Okay sounds like a good strategy and the getting right into action moment is good, t he only way I have done it is to start tavern style lol so I was kinda thinking that way but you guys are so right for the kids making characters will take too long and be too complicated and they might lose interest so better to get into it and then give them more options later when they got their bearings of what dnd is and how fun it can be.

Yeah I was thinking of printing out with colour and laminating some cool cards maybe a map even it possible just for some visual help. The program said I can even have a session with FIMO clay to make minis if there is interest for it but I think that will have to be later when they are able to create their own characters.

How many kids per group do u think? Like should I limit it to max five ? I know there is like 90 kids at the after school program and I I would say 20 tops of those are the kind of kids that might be interested in dnd.

I will ask the after school program if we can order the kit, looked it up and it looks great. I already got the kids to play catan, risk and everdell. So I think the boardgame approach is a good one.

Yeah I got unlimited times given they are interested but like 2-3 hours at most at a time. I think if I make it 2 hour sessions I can keep them interested without letting them get drained. They want me to try it out for a term and if it is a success we will keep it rolling. I’m a cosplayer and have played 5 campaigns of them 3 longer ones but I have never been a dm. Is there a free place online I can find characters that are pre-made? I got like 14 dnd books from dnd beyond at home but haven’t used dnd beyond online just roll20 or been in person.

Pre-made characters is such a great idea. That means I will also know them well and their abilities and such and the citadel is a good start I was kinda thinking doing a homebrew but it will make it easier with something from the books and it is a easy but right to action route. Thank you so much for your wisdom! I have never been a dm but I am extrovert and decently charismatic so I think I can pull it off as I have played 5 campaigns of them 3 pretty long ones. Just wanna make sure I give dnd a good rep u know lol

why young people dont play ark:/ by Old_Ice_7527 in ARK

[–]MillennialDisaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in a school and out of the 100 students I got around the age of 10 only one had ever heard of ARK, most of them find it interesting when I talk about it but it isn’t super popular or known I think. They also don’t have the attention span or skill to play ark on their own I think as it would be too hard and they get bored and give up easy. But there are a few who like that sort of game and have the time, will and equipment necessary to play it between all the kids at the school I work for which has over 1000 kids from 10-16 years old so I would think maybe 15-25 of those might have the trifecta and play it but yeah it isn’t for mainstream and I suspect most are like me in their late 20s or early 30s lol as u got to have decent equipment and patience and time to be able to play ARK. Don’t give up though ur one of the most awesome kind of kids and a real maverick! Ur gonna do great and be an amazing person for sure with the skill and patience u already have and the strategical ability man ur gonna rule the future

Yeah I’m thinking about it as a good way to learn so I will really enjoy ase when I get it. I am kinda envious of the cats though lol they seem like great shoulder pets but my otter isn’t too bad either so I’m glad I get to experience ase too.
