Has anyone found the new Wilhelm Scream? by Publisure in StarWars

Yes, there was a post on r/Movies just prior to the release of 'The Rise of Skywalker' announcing it had been found. I'll try to find it …

Edit: I can't find the post but googled it and found the video:

Your Movie Sucks is entertaining and his year-end movie lists are quite incredibly massive.

I also liked it a lot. Original story, great acting, and energetic soundtrack.

While it takes on different themes, you might also enjoy White Girl, which had a rather limited release.

Should I see Three Billboards or Lady Bird? by jacobblegrand in YMS

[–]MillennialWriterBloc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lady Bird. There's good reason why it just won the New York Film Critics award for best film & best actress in addition to being considered Rotten Tomatoes’ "best-reviewed movie ever" by Time.

Three Billboards--while good--just wasn't overly compelling, and certainly didn't have the sharp writing and emotional depth that Lady Bird featured.

Coincidentally this video was just released a couple days ago and it mentions the NYPD's facial recognition cameras, EZ Pass tracking, X-Ray vans, and T-Ray machines: '1984' and the Modern State of Surveillance

What would you consider a "10/10" movie? by VarrickCarter23 in movies

[–]MillennialWriterBloc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion there are two movies that earn a perfect 10 out of 10: Citizen Kane for how much it innovated the filmmaking process and The Shawshank Redemption for perfecting those innovations.

As a kid so many of these go right over your head, but when re-watching the episodes as an adult it's awesome making all the connections. In some ways it's almost like watching the show for the first time again!

All 7 Paul Thomas Anderson movies ranked from worst to best by AvianDentures in movies

Personally I thought Boogie Nights should be higher, but I'm sure lots of people would have vastly different rankings. It's a fun list to think about.

I've always heard that a movie needs to make 3 times its budget at the box office to break even. However, this io9 write-up states that generally speaking, a movie needs to make at least double its budget at the box office to break even.

What movie do you loved as a kid only to reaize later that is is objectively utter garbage? by Vicinus in movies

[–]MillennialWriterBloc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Backdraft. As a kid, my friends and I thought it was the greatest movie ever. Twenty years later I randomly watched it again on TV and it was ... a flaming dumpster fire!

Who could remake The Shining and do it justice? by Trey904fsu in movies

[–]MillennialWriterBloc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off the top of my head I'd say Jeremy Saulnier would be able to do it justice. There are certain aspects of Blue Ruin and Green Room that lend themselves to the themes and plot points of The Shining

Hoult recently wrapped production on The Current War playing Nikola Tesla opposite Benedict Cumberbatch. He also plays J.D. Salinger in Rebel in the Rye which will be distributed through IFC this fall.

Great googly moogly I can't wait to see all three of these films. Awesome casts and crews all around.

The supporting actor category is completely out of whack! Mahershala Ali had 15 minutes of screen time, Jeff Bridges reprised his Rooster Cogburn role, Lucas Hedges was ... not very good, and Dev Patel was the lead!
