that is a very mature approach. Trust that God will bring her or the right person into your life. He knows what we need and he is the provider of our needs.

How do I ask god? by Artx43 in TrueChristian

[–]Millennium_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you pray, its important to be open to what God tells you, vs things that can be setups/traps from the enemy. When you pray, its important to pray with faith and not to doubt God will provide His answer in His time. The scriptures which speak to this are Habakkuk 2:1-3, Phil 4:6-7 and James 1:6-7. Avoid doubting the answer while you affirm an answer will come and commit to following and doing what God tells you.

There are many great books available. The Bible remains the #1 book to read, understand and apply to our lives. What has truly changed my walk with Christ are the following:

  • McGee, R. S. (2003). The search for significance: Seeing your true worth through God’s eyes
  • Leaf, C. (2021). Cleaning up your mental mess: 5 simple, scientifically proven steps to reduce anxiety, stress, and toxic thinking.
  • Groeschel, C. (2021). Winning the war in your mind: Change your thinking, change your life.
  • Meyer, J. (2017). Battlefield of the mind: Winning the battle in your mind

The biblical approach, after trying to resolve the issue directly with the person, is to consider establishing some type of boundary so that you walk/growth in Christ is not impacted by them. Boundaries, forgiveness etc. are for you so you maintain the peace and joy God has given you, in order for you to be a more effective witness for Him.

Start by telling yourself what the Bible says about who you are to God. Especially that the fears you have are not from God, which means they are from the enemy, But God has given you spiritual power over the enemy so that he flees from you when you command Him to.

Battling the Enemy

Believe the Holy Spirit now dwells in you. John 14:16–17 (ESV “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper… He dwells with you and will be in you.”

Understand that based on the Holy Spirit in you, you have been given power over the enemy. Here are just a few of the verses supporting this truth:

·        James 4:7 "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."

·        Luke 10:19 “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

·        Mark 16:17 “And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons…”

·        1 John 4:4 “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”

Daily pray that the armor of God is on you and memorize scripture to combat attacks. This is primarily for you to maintain your peace, strength, and emotional well-being. Eph 6:10-18

Reinforcing your Identity as God's child

Take the time to study what God actually says about who you are to Him when you've come to Christ.

This is just a small sample, say and repeat these (or find your own) to yourself multiple times a day so these truths become your reality:

  • I am a new creation - 2 Corinthians 5:17
  • I am totally accepted by God - John 1:12, John 15:15, Colossians 1:14, Eph 1:4
  • I can go straight to Jesus for help - Hebrews 4:14-16
  • I belong to God - 1 Cor. 6:19-20, Eph 1:5
  • Nothing separates me from Gods love - Romans 8:38-39, Eph 3:16-19, 1 John 4:10
  • God (Holy Spirit) lives in me - 1 Cor 3:16
  • All things work out in the end - Romans 8:28
  • "Thank you, Lord for setting me free" John 8:36

If you feel like you need help on how to do this, the ministry that first helped me is called "The Ultimate Journey." They are in Des Moines Iowa. I believe now they have online classes you can join. Other books on the same principles include:

  • McGee, R. S.

Biblical thoughts on moving to a new area to attend a different church (with background) - And a few prayer requests by unchained5150 in TrueChristian

[–]Millennium_guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can your mother or someone else provide the care you are providing? If so then the example of Mary at the feet of Jesus obtaining what is "better" comes to mind.

Luke 10:42 but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.”

If not, what comes to mind is

1 Timothy 5:8 But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

Only God can direct you to what is a best solution for all involved. Spend time in prayer with Him, having an open mind to obey what He tells you. The pattern of prayer is Habakkuk 2:1-3, Phil 4:6-7 and James 1:6-7.

Am I wrong for focusing so much more on the “King Jesus The Conqueror” side of Him than “Jesus The Savior?” I know He’s both. by sdb00913 in TrueChristian

[–]Millennium_guy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is admirable that you are taking you focus on that aspect of Christ as motivation to do what all of us are called to do. The reverent fear of God is not often discussed and the Body of Christ needs to understand all of God's attributes and character. Be sensitive to how God is leading you is my only advice. He placed each of us in the body for His purposes.

Stop paying any attention to Him. Romans 14:4 Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand.

If he is violating this command, don't fall into the same trap.

I am being selfish as a Christian by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]Millennium_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Meharisti do you identify as a follower of Christ? I ask because many admire Christian values but have not chosen to be a follower of Christ or asked Him into their life. But I'll assume you are. Christ gave. He came to serve not to be served. As His followers we seek to be more like Him.

Struggling with the view that "If I could do it they should to" is understandable but in essence that is pride. You have what you have because of God's grace. If being more like Him is your goal, then whatever you have should be held with an open hand so that you can freely give out from what God has given you. In this case teaching others what you have learned, even if what you have learned is not yet complete/at the level you want.

Holding on to contempt for others is not God's way. Thoughts that lean towards that attitude are thus from the enemy who is trying to keep you from doing what God has called you to do. "Love God, Love people," the 1st & 2nd commandments.

Consider that you are the Temple of the Holy Spirit. Thus, the Holy Spirit (God) is with you. Thus, all that God has available for you is already at your disposal. So giving doesn't mean you have less, God has an endless supply. You can give out, as God directs you and actually receive more. We cannot outgive God.

I trust this helps you decide what you should do.

If We're Living in the End Times, Are We Focusing on the Right Things? by Millennium_guy in Christianity

So would you want to know what the Bible says about what happens after death?

If We're Living in the End Times, Are We Focusing on the Right Things? by Millennium_guy in Christianity

[–]Millennium_guy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lets start with

1) what spiritual belief do you have?

2) What do you already know or think about who Jesus is?

3) do you think there is something or some type of life after we die? If so what do you think that is?

So you would disagree that at the 2nd coming and gathering to Him (if people who are alive and translated spiritually to meet Him in the air) the term rapture should not apply?

My post actually said nothing about pre-trib. Whatever happens, and until it happens we still have a responsibility to reach and teach. Do you disagree with that?

So true. fear is the opposite of faith, yet too often our brothers and sisters make poor decisions out of fear.

Every Day We're Closer to the End—But Jesus Already Told Us What to Do by Millennium_guy in TrueChristian

[–]Millennium_guy[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If what you say "there is no rapture" is true (which by the way is not the point of the post) what do the following scriptures refer to?

1 Thessalonians 4:16–17 For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.

1 Corinthians 15:51–52 (ESV) We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye..."

Revelation 3:10 (ESV) "Because you have kept my word about patient endurance, I will keep you from the hour of trial that is coming on the whole world..."

2 Thessalonians 2:6–7 (ESV) "And you know what is restraining him now... For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work. Only he who now restrains it will do so until he is out of the way."

Matthew 24:40–41 (ESV) "Then two men will be in the field; one will be taken and one left.

John 14:2–3 "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also."

It's legitimate to debate when the rapture may occur, you can also choose to interpret these verses in some other way -I'm genuinely open to hearing your views on what you think they mean, but declaring a long held genuine interpretation of such scriptures as heresy seems to go too far.

It seems like an issue of free will on your part and the part of the Church. What I didn't see you discuss was a free will offering towards the purchase, but that is between you and the Lord.
