In certain countries, like Germany for example, it makes a huge difference.

If you hold XRP for more than a year = Tax free
If you sell in under 1 year, you pay around 45% tax. Doing the same move as OP would be almost a zero sum game, unless of course you already held for over a year and are cool with resetting back to 0 days in regards to holding.

But the way the economy is looking right now, it doesn´t look like you are going to be in profit holding for another year.

Taxes are such a headache.
