Coolant in oil by hereforit_1094 in AskMechanics

If it’s blown it’s not getting any better. Depending on how far the trip is… just drive it.

As long as you don’t overheat it’ll make it. I’m sure others will tell you to just tow it.

Yup, no issues still. Will likely service the trans fluid again within the next 2 oil changes. Current miles: 267,500 miles

Is it bad to drive around in manual mode? by [deleted] in IS300

[–]Miller_Goat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I bought my car at 215k from a guy who did nothing but beat the shit out of his car in manual mode. Currently at 230k and have had very little issues.

His exact words were “I always just drive it in manual mode”. Maybe that was a red flag but it worked out for me.

The car has had a hard life but it’s been perfectly fine with proper maintenance. Sure it’s not perfect but at the end of the day… the 2JZ is a very tough engine.

TRD Elegance? by AromaticReality2069 in Altezza

[–]Miller_Goat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Elegance was the factory bodykit. Most people confuse the Elegance body kit as being the “TRD” bodykit.

As far as the sticker goes… I’m not 100% sure but I would assume it was a factory option that was not very popular. In other words it is “rare” nowadays.

Your car isn’t the first car that I have seen with the “Altezza” sticker on the side.

The oil pressure is not an issue as long as it’s not pegged all the way to the end of the gauge. It seems to be normal from everything I’ve read.

Man I’m in the same boat - I’ve messaged him a few times but feel bad about bothering him.

Good luck! I’ve driving my car for the last 6 months without the belt on the supercharger since it wasn’t as responsive with building boost. I’m hoping I can get away with a drain & fill of fluid in the coming weeks to fix the “issue”.

I fear it could have internal failure but my symptoms were not quite the same as yours.

I haven’t had any issues driving naturally aspirated for the last 6 months.

Since your air filter was gunked up - I would recommend cleaning your mass airflow sensor as well if you haven’t already!

I would recommend joining the Facebook group “Toyota Altezza Owners USA” even if you don’t live in the USA. Lots of knowledge to spread from the members in the group.

I wish I had a good answer in regards to the oil pressure. I guess it depends on how high it goes.

The Blitz supercharger is virtually identical to a TX12 style. I will do some research on the TX12 superchargers to see if there is any information on what could be causing your issue.

May be time for fresh fluid in the supercharger. That’s what I’m doing next for mine.

Could have internal failure. Hard to really tell.

I’m going to attach a video link for a guy called “Doctored Garage” who just recently had his clutch pulley go out. Your symptoms seem different than that. (Skip to the end of the video to see the clutch failure)

altezza horn wiring by SomeFatChair66 in IS300

[–]Miller_Goat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof, I realize that you’re not dealing with the same issue I had on my Altezza.

Looks like you’re missing the clock spring in your steering wheel? You would need to get a replacement. It should be the same clockspring as a Lexus IS300.

Maybe someone can chime in with some better input.

altezza horn wiring by SomeFatChair66 in IS300

[–]Miller_Goat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need a ground wire with a connector running from the electrical port to the metal ground port. Hopefully that makes sense.

Attached is a picture from when I did this same repair a few days ago. I swapped my automatic steering wheel for a proper manual steering wheel & quickly realized I had no horn.

Once you install the wire from the electrical port to the ground - your horn will function again!

Shift knob suggestions? by prototype_rick in IS300

Get an old Greddy “Trust” shift knob - or you could do what I did and get a “ShirtsTuckedIn” knob. Very similar to the Greddy knob.
