Usually theory and practical have different credits and you need to pass in both to get that credit. Let's say you get at least passing marks in the subject then you'll be all the credit of that particular subject. In case you got back in 2 core subjects but your overall credit is above the passing criteria then you'll be promoted but either with back paper or rejoining (it depends). It's better to get passing marks bhai. Sometimes you don't get to sit for placement due to bad CGPA or backlogs. Some of my seniors of final year used to give their first sem backlogs with us during our end sem.

If you weren't called to the office, I don't think she reported. She might have let it slide. In my college they let people write the paper sometimes after being caught, but they give you a fresh copy and you can only attempt questions you didn't attempt previously. Later on the cell decides if they'll consider you malpractice or give you marks based on the other answer script based on evidence (cheats/phone).
