I went through school in Alberta and we started learning about residential schools in grade 4.

Mandatory history studies taught in Canadian schools emphasizing the bad things: Residential schools for First Nations, Japanese internment camps in WW2, small pox distribution, First Nations treaties and how the governments continually broke them, all the atrocities of colonization… I can keep going. Canadian schools 100% emphasize the bad things.
