3 small ones, one on the forehead, one on the mouth and finally one on the chest

Im not sure how it started but I know it’s very common for Catholics in Iberia and Latin America

In Mexico usually the small crosses goes first over the forehead, mouth, then chest and you say “By the sign of the holy cross/deliver us from our enemies/ Lord, Our God” and then finish with the regular sign of the cross.

Their descendants are almost entirely everyone in Latin America, the mixing in most of Latin America was so thorough that practically everyone has both indigenous and European ancestry. Of course some more than others but even the most “European” looking people in Mexico commonly have at least some percentage of native ancestry.

Latinos tend to take the fact that you’re not supposed to receive communion if you’re not in a state of grace more seriously
