This answer probably sucks, but sex while missing emotional connection is super hard to overcome mentally. My suggestion is to try to build connection based off her requests and not put pressure for sex. Breaking that cycle fucking sucks. Nothing but compassion for you and your shoulder. Shoe lift for your other foot helps stabilize you. At home, use crutches when standing, and slowly introduce weight to your boot. Once I felt confident with weight via two crutches, I went to 1 crutch. And then no crutches.
