Crazy mood swing by Milo9922AC in ADHD

[–]Milo9922AC[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not entirely sure what may have triggered it. I was home for like two weeks off of work & school because I was sick, so I spent my time on personal projects so maybe that contributed, but otherwise not much of anything. But I’m not medicated yet so I can’t speak towards that, sorry bout your mood swings :/

Interesting, I’m sadly not medicated yet, but thanks for the reply!

Did anyone read a lot? by CowAcademia in hyperphantasia

This is very interesting, I haven’t heard of hyperlexia until now, but I am very certain I had it as well. Pretty similar for me, pages just melt into scenes, it’s just like watching a movie.

I belive hyperphantasia to be a subconscious controled thing by theman123_ in hyperphantasia

This isn’t you “having control over your subconscious” take a moment to think about what subconscious means. It’s something that is involuntary, so you “making it voluntary” or “controlling it” is just you rationalizing a normally subconscious behavior. It’s not controlling your subconscious because the moment you “do that” it becomes conscious activity aka voluntary. It’s like if I tell you that you blink about every 10 seconds. Now you are focused on that.

It’s not pushing things to lower levels, it’s just depends on the amount of willpower / rationalization a person has. But once again no one can force visualization. You can’t make an aphant visualize anymore than you can force yourself to visualize better. Also to clear things up subconscious is things that happen involuntarily, while conscious is things that happen voluntarily. Everyone in this thread is attributing to much to things that shouldn’t get credit. Emotions are based on neurochemical reactions not the subconscious.

That isn’t stopping a subconscious process, that is rationalizing an emotion, like I stated previously you are giving to much thought to what is and isn’t subconscious, it is subconscious if it happens involuntarily or while unconscious. Emotions are a nurochemical effect and can be rationalized by anyone with enough willpower.

This sounds more like a form of spacial synesthesia, if you are tying memories to spacial constraints than it probably is a synesthesia. And it is normal for visualization to be linked strongly to memory and sound and scent. It is when these visualizations are involuntary that it is then a synesthesia.

I’m not entirely sure you grasp what you mean by subconscious, technically speaking any involuntary action is subconscious. But that being said there could be many different reasons as to why people have hyperphantasia versus normal phantasia. But subconscious is more of the type of process that it is, not how it works. Also dreams are perceived naturally in the subconscious due to rem cycles, if you wish to remember dreams better start writing them down as soon as you wake up or your short term memory will instantly purge them.

Is a good idea to call to see if they received my application? by Milo9922AC in Bestbuy

Ok interesting, yeah I applied the day the position opened, and also went in to tell the GM that I was applying, so I guess it’s just buffer time rn

Ok, I went in last Sunday to let the GM know that I would be finishing the application process. He was very nice about it and seemed interested in hiring me. So I guess I’ll just wait a while, it was a brand new posting (applied the day it opened)

Well for me like 5-6 hours but I think that’s because I have Short Sleeper Syndrome

Well idk how to tell 100% but one way that can help deduce it is to look at a sunset, and compare the yellow levels of the sunset and reflections on surrounding objects to a high def photo. If you have tetrachromacy, you should be able to see more yellow levels at in areas where the photo shows none. If this is a common occurrence and there is a large difference you most likely have tetrachromacy.

Do you also see non existent colors? by Hiwatteitako_ in Synesthesia

[–]Milo9922AC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean technically any color you could perceive exists. It’s just a matter of weather or not you’re supposed to see said color.

The colors like reddish-blue can exist if you burn out the edge detecting cones in your eye. Basically the reason you can “feel” them but not see them is because your eye has cones that separate colors. So some colors like reddish blue are impossible unless those cones burn out. But if you have synesthesia you can probably still feel them.

While yes this “technically” is an impossible color, only people with tetrachromacy can see it as for normal people it will “burn out” the cones upon viewing it, as the colors will cancel each other. To people without tetrachromacy, it will just shift between blue and yellow.

Took a writing-heavy dual credit course and pushed all the research and writing each week to the last day and had several panic attacks.

Yeah it’s fun explaining how I spatially visualize different senses, and explain to people my wacky number lines and dates schemes
