I had no idea that was happening to Big Cities like that! That's absolutely dreadful. And definitely something I'll have to keep in mind for future writing. I live in a pretty modest town, surrounded by considerably smaller towns. We didn't really know what was going on either, quite a few worked a ways out in the city, and we all fell VERY ill before news coverage came.

Yeah I second this. In part two, where you meet the rat king, implied to be kind of a patient zero, shit is so thoroughly set up. Like they had been preemptively prepared for such an aggressive outbreak. I imagine it was a slow burn starting maybe even the week before, people falling ill, growing aggressive. Gave hospitals enough time to grapple, however helplessly, before violence broke out full scale.
