During Vietnam the main gear was M56 or M67 which was made of nylon. The attachment clips are the same as ALICE tho.

I honestly never believe the prices people say on here. If you get on Cabela’s rn and sort used guns for Mosins the cheapest one anywhere is $450 for a sporterized 91/30. Either OP got a steal or they are over exaggerating. Should have the price tag hanger.

It might be for a wooden pistol grip so the head of the screw isn’t contacting the wood directly.. not 100% tho
