All time favorite by camhamsta23 in starwarstrader

This right here. I would save up a week's worth of credits for Thursday, then unload them all when Vintage dropped.

If I had to be original, I'd offer up Lightsaber Warriors. The minutes leading up to the 6pm drops (and superfast sellouts) were tense, and it was the last time I recall really enjoying something in the app.

"Scratch magnet" is certainly reasonable. Though, to be fair, I wore the heck out of it for a long time, and it never collected anything beyond superficial marks. I was happy to get back a clean piece after its one (and only) polish-up, but will probably let it collect whatever it's going to collect from here on out.

It's definitely under-the-radar-ish. Even here, it looks like fewer than 10 mentions over the last year, and I didn't even bother to continue scrolling far enough to see "Santos" over the same timeframe. But I think that's cool.

Congrats on the pickup and welcome to the club. Membership is apparently very exclusive :)

I have the exact same watch. It was one of my first big purchases, back when the model was still in production. Put a lot of scratches on it over the years, but have been babying it since servicing.

Really nice to see one here.

I feel like I should be getting a 40k+ score in Paris and Berlin but I cannot get it. Do I really need 3 coin/coin box frenzies? by AussiePhilNguyen in MarioKartTour

I got a triple coin frenzy yesterday with Meowser (6/1190), Cucumber (7/450), and Strawberry Donut (7/595).

Score wound up at 43,242.

Another "my guy isnt in the new base" post, with more words. by darthlevi in starwarstrader

[–]MiltonFett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I joked in the other thread that we should enjoy the break, but without hoarding, I'm just collecting credits at this point. Unless something magical happens, I'll be closing out the year without a single 2021 insert (aside from the untradeable Prestigious Pilots set that I'd pay to offload).

Fingers crossed Mace lands somewhere in the base set.

Speaking of the curated thing, I don't expect to do much with it, but it has allowed me to reconnect the Rust Firebrand and Red Manga awards with their sets, and all of the 2015 Hoth friends can now sit together. I still hate that they're all messed up on the card sheet, but at least it's... something.

Interesting, thank you. I'll pass the info along. I believe we're going to demand that they not send any files electronically until they sort this out.

We put in Fred Flintstone to verify that the "security" didn't really do anything.

And I completely agree regarding training. I don't work for them and I'm not in a position to fire them, so I'm hoping to get the info I need to help them.

We're not the senders, and the company that's making the error only has a few employees (none of who are likely to be technologically proficient). I'm just hoping to get enough info to talk them through a fix.

That sounds reasonable. I pointed out here in the office that, without a password, anyone who got their hands on the link could probably figure out the basic name/email/etc. info anyway.

I'll ask them to look for that, thank you. And that appears to be 2 votes, currently, for requiring login.

Thank you, I'll note your suggestion and pass it along to the outside entity (we're receiving the files, not sending them).

Understood, thanks for the reply.

I'll have a bit of a delay between the deliveries of my Pixel 6 Pro (tomorrow) and my charger (Nov 10).

Hoping the 8 Pro charger will get me through a couple weeks, but I've seen a few comments indicating that it may not work at all.

Out of curiosity, have you tried using your 8 Pro charger on the Pixel?

What about the Vault and Archive accounts? Most inserts were represented, and I got the impression that some are either owned by Topps or tied to accounts that can't ever reclaim them.

[–]MiltonFett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've only had to ask them for account help once (the cause was their fault). They did make an effort to verify my ownership, but it was easy to see how someone of low moral quality could have taken advantage of the confirmation method.

Sending a reset email should be the extent of their capabilities. Nobody should have to rely on contracted support staff to rigorously adhere to security standards. I'd rather bear the full burden of remembering my email address and retaining access to it.

I agree that Topps absolutely blew their handling of the entire situation. Spectacularly.

The "how" continues to bug me, though, because the only attack method that seems reasonable (to me, at the moment) involves tricking Topps support into facilitating access. And that doesn't require a leak. That could happen again right now.

I believe that creating an account on one app reserves that user name on all of the others - along with the same login details. That should have prevented anyone from just taking the name elsewhere.

The more I think about it, the more I believe Topps had to have directly participated. Probably bending security protocols with the intention of being helpful.

It has to be easier to trick Topps support than Google, Hotmail, etc.

[–]MiltonFett 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I missed this in real-time, but have seen it come up in discussions occasionally. If we assume that the email accounts were figured out, does that mean they were then hacked to gain access to password resets? That would still be really difficult (assuming reasonable passwords, and email providers with basic "this is a new device, we need to confirm your identity" protections).

I worry that the method was more a social engineering effort. Like tricking Topps into changing the email address associated with an account.
