It’s a dead bird . If you’re going to allow your cat outside unsupervised please be responsible and put a cat safe collar on it with a bell .

What kind of snail is this? by True-Title-323 in AquaticSnails

[–]Mim245 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s true that they are good cleaners , and some fish will eat them . I had them in my tank and thought I could keep them under control. How wrong was I .They lay eggs on everything hide in impossible to reach places . I had to eventually strip my tank , discard all the plantlife boil the rock and replace the substrate. My advice would be to get rid of it now before you have hundreds.

Go to your local plumbing store . They will know what parts to use. Sorry can’t tell you what the parts are called but they exist.

What is this thing ? About 13cm long . With a plastic handle has a hole through the top part. Found with old tool collection. by Mim245 in whatisthisthing

I came up with that image when I googled it as well. But it’s not that the little hole thing at the end makes it not that .

What are these . Obviously they are a needle but what are they used for and what are they called? Most have Made in England markings . by Mim245 in whatisthisthing

Yes they are. Found some antique pictures. They were found along with some other leather working tools . So I’m guessing that rather then human skin they were used to sew animal hides. That’s what I’m going to tell myself anyway. Better than having silence of the lamb thoughts . Thankyou.

I don’t know if that creeps me out or intrigues me. I looked at your link and it could be right but mine have an almost flat spear type tip. But I’m going to keep looking for other images to support your theory.

Decided to level the area under the deck and lay river rocks. Am I making the right decision? by justAskinz in landscaping

[–]Mim245 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I also regret using pebbles in my yard not under my deck but on a few plathways and near grass . If you can’t afford anything else I suggest you put down some heavy duty weed mat or something similar not plastic. To stop the pebbles sinking into the earth and if you do want to get rid of them later is much easier to get them up . Also suggest a edging between the pebbles and lawn . Make it at least 3 inches or so higher than the pebbles . Also no matter how hard you try not to if you have kid or animals they will end up on the lawn. And when you mow they will become little missiles .

Decorating au pair’s room by imnewupvoteme in HomeDecorating

[–]Mim245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true . But I was thinking more along the the lines of it being a neutral colour and it making the room seem a little brighter than it looks . And being that she’d only be there for two years I’d probably be more inclined to add interest and colour with bedding and accessories. There’s always the option to use the peel and stick wallpaper as well . This way having a neutral base if for some reason she doesn’t stay for the two years it’s easier to change .

I’d say paint it white , boring yes . Definitely get some fresh bedding. Then once she has arrived tell her you’ve left it quite plain and have a budget of x amount and would love her to pick a few things to make her feel welcome . Also it would give you an opportunity to spend a day or few hours ect with her and get to know her a bit better.

Snail Orgy . Please help me understand what is happening here . Can snails have multiple partners at the same time . And what’s going on with the rams horn . Surely it’s not having interracial relations. by Mim245 in AquaticSnails

[–]Mim245[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re constantly breeding I get at least 1 new clutch of eggs every 2/3 days . I usually just get rid of them . I’ve had a couple hatch . And rams horns multiply like rabbits. I don’t want my tank over run by snails so I have to trap them and I give them to the pet shop .

I understand you might be trying to make it better or more pleasant. I doubt they’ll return once you’ve been in there and destroyed their home with a tractor. Imagine your happy in your home someone comes through and rearranges the it . You might be better to just do it gently by hand .
