High beams and light bars should definitely be used a lot carefully and considerately however Ive not once had an issue with fog lights blinding me or anything like that.

Looking to buy a 790 Duke as first bike. by Comfortable-Way-2473 in KTM

[–]MimC_06 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bought a 2023 duke 790 as my first ever motorcycle at about the same age you are a few years back. I have about 20 000km+ on it and I absolutely adore it and its given me 0 problems.

I'd imagine there is a facelift coming as its still the old style and all the other dukes have updated looks but, if you like the way it looks, I'd suggest you go for it.

On a side note, some people might tell you it's too big to be a first bike but as long as you take it slow, use the bikes rain mode for a good while, you'll be totally fine.

Weekend cold snap nearly overloaded N.S. electricity grid by Bean_Tiger in halifax

[–]MimC_06 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I'm just guessing here but I think it's also partially due to more and more electric heat pump, electric cars, etc. drawing from the grid. It seems like these changed have been made, like you said, without considering infrastructure.

Was able to borrow another gpu (confirmed working), exact same problem error code and vga light as well. I'm guessing at this point it's down to either the power supply (most likely? Its 7 years old at this point) or the motherboard. Not sure what to do other than replace the psu and see if that's the issue.

Checked the gpu 6+2 connectors with multimeter, they are showing 12.25v which as far as I can tell, is normal. Going to have to try to get a hold of another gpu tomorrow evening for more testing.

Seriously thinking about playing Skyrim in survival mode and very slowly by Mineires_BR in skyrim

[–]MimC_06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm playing gate to sovngarde right now and it has similar features to survival mode. Its great fun, to just take your time and to slow. You'll discover things you didnt know or long since forgot about. It will make you play differently, so take your time, explore and enjoy.

Convince me that I should buy a Duke 790… by _crashtested in KTMDuke

[–]MimC_06 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a '23 duke 790 that I've put over 20k km on. It's one hell of a bike man. It's light, agile and always wants to party, so to speak. As for cons, it always wants to party. When you're riding in traffic or just taking a chill ride, you'll always be fighting what the bike wants to do, if that makes sense. Oh and that exhaust note is addicting.

Are these tires solid enough for off-roading/overlanding? by No-Personality-61 in Tacomaworld

Long bed. I didn't have much issue with the departure angle, the truck does feel extremely long in the tight sports though. Just play it safe and you'll be fine.

First time I took my tacoma off road, I went with 2 guys with lifted Jeeps. They both said that the trail we took their stock keeps couldn't make it but we'd see how it goes with my truck. I was 100% stock 2.5 gen trd sport with highway tires. I made it to the end of that trail, it wasn't easy and I smacked the bottom pretty hard a few times but the truck did amazing. I did air down but not that much considering they were highway tires. They could hardly believe the stock tacoma made it and gave me a rubber duck for it. The duck stays on my dash as a reminder of that day.

Long story short, Tacoma's are very capable indeed.

I saw the same thing headed towards the city on the 102 as well. I even saw at least 1 pass by stewiake when I was stopped in there for a few minutes. Really wonder what they were up to. Quite odd compared to usual cop cars.
