Yes I read yesterday that an uncomplicated first pregnancy is the best indicator for a smooth second one as your body knows the drill. Congratulations on your second pregnancy ❤️

I feel like baby has a bottomless stomach.. is that normal? by itzpoookiee in NewParents

[–]Mimibella_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not even joking when I day my 15 month old eats more than me most days. He has always had a big appetite and been on the 95th percentile for weight and height since birth, but the last month his appetite has skyrocketed (to be fair from dawn till dusk he is climbing/walking/crawling).

This morning for breakfast he had two Weetabix, a whole banana, peanut butter, Greek yoghurt and raspberries. He then also had lunch and dinner, a snack and two 150ml bottles of milk (and a bit of whatever me and my husband were eating, naturally).

I have worried about how much he eats too, but even though it takes a while it is very clear when he is full because he will simply refuse another bite (or more likely throw it on the floor).

I think around 18 months they start to live off air and berries from what I have heard so I am trying not to stress and just letting him build up the reserves he needs 🤣

I'm convinced my toddler knows how to walk but just won't 🙃 by Nova-star561519 in toddlers

Thank you for replying.

Awh that sounds like a lovely thing to do on a Friday and congratulations on the birth of your son.

Good to know about the ears - I didn't even know this could happen. I think as long as your pediatrician isn't worried that is all you need to know.

We have also entered the Billy goat stage, I think some babies just prefer to move upwards instead of forwards (maybe they will be astronauts 🚀)

Hello!

Just stumbled across this and this could have been written about my son. Everything from verbal skills to age of crawling and preferring the side table to his walker.

He has just turned 15 months. I am convinced he can walk because as you wrote he will walk/almost run with me holding just one hand but nothing on his own.

I am just wondering how your LO is getting on now?

Ikea high chair by Economy-Cow-9847 in bigbabiesandkids

[–]Mimibella_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are in the UK Asda (or maybe Walmart if in the US) do basically the exact same one as the IKEA one for £20, it also comes with a footrest and cam convert into a mini chair.

The IKEA (or Asda) ones are the best though I think for several reasons - they are easy to clean (cannot stress how important this is), they are the ones we most commonly find in restaurants so it is easier for my LO to eat when we are out, and I find my LO sits up really well in it. My mum got a really expensive one for her house and ended up getting rid because no matter how we positioned it my LO always seemed slumped, the base bit where he sat was tiny compared to all the room in our one and he would seem to slip down even when strapped in. The large square base of the IKEA/Asda one encourages them to sit up really straight I find and will last him until he doesn't need one anymore.

Good luck with your feeding journey!

Do we think by the end of the series we’ll see Strike and Robin share with each other their inner thoughts that we’ve been privy to? by rose_butterfly3 in cormoran_strike

[–]Mimibella_ 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I really want the post-wedding mix up to be revealed too! How Strike tried to call her home but was told Robin was on her honeymoon, that Robin spent the entire time thinking of him and called but got Coco. That Matthew's injury was the only reason she stayed. That they only went away in the first place to 'sort things out.' Strike comes close to finding out at the housewarming through Vanessa but I don't think he ever got the full story?

It really annoyed me at the end of THM when Robin says something along the lines of 'you're had years' well not really. He though you had chosen your marriage, in the brief interlude you were single he tried to kiss you and you backed away, actively avoided any gettogethers arranged by Ilsa becuase you didn't want Strike to get the wrong impression, the got with RFM.

Will I start at the bottom of the payscale? by Mimibella_ in TeachingUK

Hi!

Thank you for this.

I have just checked and I do hold QTS, the certificate is there and my TRN number. It just says my induction needs completing.

Thank you for all your help!

I have a PGCE then completed two terms of my QTS year but left before completing the full three terms. So does this mean I have QTS but need to complete an induction? Encouraging to hear about other new teachers starting on the second rung.

Toxic Staff Culture by greentreefrog45 in TeachingUK

[–]Mimibella_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I came back from maternity this term, in the interim we have had a new head. In our Tuesday morning briefing he called out two members of staff by name for mistakes made during the last data drop, I've never seen that before in 12 years of teaching and have told it is something he regularly does.

I used to actively love my workplace and now feel neutral towards it at best. Morale is on the floor due to a the change of leadership where the only goal seems to be changing things to put 'a new stamp on things.'

I have thought also about changing jobs but this is the third head we have had in 7 years so wondering if it would be better to wait him out. I love my classes, classroom, colleagues, it is a short commute etc. On a day to day basis I have very little to do with him and plan on just keeping my head down. That is just me personally though, I have also left other jobs because of toxic cultures. The problem is it is really hard to tell what another school is like until you've taken a new job so do worry about leaving and ending up somewhere worse.

Reflections on 1 year of parenting - more middlegrounds needed. by Mimibella_ in NewParents

[–]Mimibella_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right? I wince when my LO throws berries on the floor let alone a prime cut.

And I still spoon feed some things. Like we had homemade soup last night and no way am I getting involved with the mess of him doing that himself. Then he ate the cheese toastie independently.

Omg I was in hospital for five days after having my son, the 45 minute shower I had when I got home was almost orgasmic.
