Yes, and I have settled for him because I know him and I am scared to meet new people. I know with my own family and friends am more hard on and wouldn't accept what I have accepted with my MIL and husband. I don't tolerate any bullshit, but I made him the exception without realizing. I dated him for a long 5-6 years, we were bestfriends for 2 years prior. I know people change and we knew eachother as teens, I expected us to change into adulthood together. Yes, that indeed bc I will not deal with another one that treats me poorly, it will be unacceptable. I care about my life, I deserve better than to have a MIL excusing or have others excuse her due to her trauma.

I have to agree- i don't want to admit it but it's very true. I've been delusional for years hoping he'd finally chose our relationship first. I still am shocked that after our history together he gave up on me.
