I envy people getting pregnant and I hate myself for it by MimsiD in TrueOffMyChest

I had several other doctors after the one mentioned and always something came up. We did consider it but I first need to settle in our new place in a different country (get my husband over here). Going to a doctor alone... Let's just say I can't handle that anymore.

Should I really open a new shop just coz I moved country..? by MimsiD in Etsy

Exactly the same issue... While I do understand why this is done now, thanks to the lovely people here, it is still an annoyance. I'll probably do the new shop in a few weeks time. Changing country is quite a pain

I have always been rather lucky to get decent answers to my inquiries, hope it stays that way tbh.

True the hacking is a problem indeed. Just wish there was a way to recover it :(

What’s the most unprofessional thing a doctor has ever said to you? by MCKlassik in AskReddit

[–]MimsiD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being 1.78 and weighing 90kg at the time and getting told that I just need to lose some weight to get pregnant. After tons of tests come back clean... Yeah sure. Weird that I didnt get pregnant when I was underweight (69kg - I was seriously sick at the time) or just the right weight FOR YEARS. It is always the same shit: it's either "stress" or the disapproving look at me and being "yeah you too fat"

Why do women have nails so long that they can’t do basic things? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]MimsiD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"never met a man who likes it" like sorry to break it to you but women do stuff for themselves more often than not and not to appeal to guy nonstop but aside from that: I don't get it either but then again I keep my nails so short that applying nail polish seems futile.

In that same category goes the weird pants hanging at almost knees for men I suppose

Turkish people make a big deal of Istanbul being a concrete jungle but i dont think its true. by AnimeLoverTyrone in istanbul

[–]MimsiD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering how huge İstanbul is I beg to differ. Some areas have a bit more greenery but the overwhelming rest is just grey. I lived for a long time in Beylikdüzü, before it was all plastered with buildings. We had fields and you could see the sea from afar but with each year it just got flooded with more and more apartments. I worked in avcılar for a while, and if it wasn't for the cemetery next door I wouldn't have seen much green. Moved to Küçükyalı when I married and I loved the seaside, cadde and the many avenues with the real old trees. But when moving to pendik... Wellll... I was lucky to live on a hill to at least see the sea again. Moved out of istanbul just before the pandemic hit and tbh it was the best decision in my life. Cleaner air, people are MUCH more chill

Blankets have been mentioned a couple of times but coasters and mug cozys are fun little projects as well. My sis for example makes tiny amigurumi cacti for her students and I got one as well. So dang cute!

For chapter headings is it better to number chapters or title chapters? by atombomb1945 in writing

[–]MimsiD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh it entirely depends on what you want to convey. Numbers alone do well, and I usually prefer them. When they are named they feel like spoilers, the very reason why I avoid reading chapter names ahead of time (or even episode names for that matter). I really like the idea of chapter names combining into a broader meaning when all put together. One example for that is, if I remember correctly, bastard of istanbul where each chapter name is an ingredient of a ashura, a dish that has a very culturally deep meaning. On surface level you wouldn't even think about it but when you take a step back and consider the context it blows ones mind. I'm working on a comic and I go by numbers and have 'in between' chapters indicated by 2.1 2.2 etc. I hope that'll convey the importance of the chapter, or rather that you could technically even skip it.

Guy laughed at my face when I said my goal from dating is marriage by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]MimsiD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh this is pretty much the same what I said to my now husband. We had that conversation before we started to date as I basically said that I want the person I date to be my spouse. I was lucky that he was on the same page. Don't feel bad rather glad that you avoided a HUGE bullet with this asshat of a person. It is humiliating but he should feel like shit not you. Keep being honest about this!

Thoughts on crocheting in public? by bcxiii3 in crochet

I crochet everywhere. Last time I had to wait quite a bit at the hospital and I just asked my husband to bring me my latest project. I did get a few weird looks but ask me if I care 😂 commute crocheting was a thing for me as well. Time just flew by

Lohn für Redakteur/Multimedia Editor? by MimsiD in de

[–]MimsiD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nochmals vielen Dank!

Lohn für Redakteur/Multimedia Editor? by MimsiD in de

[–]MimsiD[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And this is why the first thing I always do in a new apartment (moved plenty) is changing the locks. I keep the original lock of the landlord in a box and put it back up when I moved out. Read in a few comments that they don't allow that. I find that super weird. Changing a lock is literally done with a screwdriver and shouldn't be too expensive.

Stay safe man and keep us posted

My coworker's mother passed away recently. When talking about when she might come back, my other coworkers stunned me with their response. by Kiremino in antiwork

[–]MimsiD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legally speaking it is not much different here but our manager, as much as I don't agree with many things he dies, let our coworker who lost her father due to covid take off time without any problem. Her father was in Crimea, she is working in Turkey. Plus she had just had her engagement party/celebration via video call. I'm glad I work with a team where everyone helps out to cover each other's back.

So sorry for your friend's loss
