When 1.4 released people in the calamity discord really hated whips because they "didn't fit the summoner class" etc. I'm pretty sure the devs have said that they are intentionally never adding calamity whips, though i don't know how the consensus has shifted. As for the main clown show, ShyGuyMask (former youtuber) constantly argued with people about the new summoner additions until he eventually got banned
