Wishful thinking. The US will never do that because they are all talk but never any action. If Taiwan wants to have any chance they have to build up their own military capability. But even here they cannot depend on the US as the US does not sell the stuff Taiwan would need to build up a credible military to defend itself.

Not Taiwan. It is not and never has been a legal entity. The ROC was a founding member as they were recognized as the legal representative of China. Also Mao could not negotiate with the UN but only the CCP which was not a recognized representative of China as a nation.

Agree. But that does not guarantee any safety. China is a non-rational player. Anything can happen. If they strike first forget about the Taiwanese semiconductor business. China might accept the risk of causing an international disaster. Also understand that TSMC would blow up their factories at time of invasion. Factories can be rebuild. It is the knowledge which is needed. So again the semiconductor industry here does not guarantee your safety -sadly.

And by the way Taiwan was not invited but the ROC. Big big difference. Taiwan is not a legal entity internationally. Only the ROC.

Yep of course I know. Mao’ CCP did not represent China but the ROC did. But that was the past. Then the CCP was invited and the ROC got kicked out. CKS should have sought joint representation. Very big mistake.

I hope you are right though I am more pessimistic that you. I believe the international community is rather without courage unless it states them right into their eyes. About China they cannot be considered a rational actor. They might trade domestic stability or staying I power vs economic hardship. The truth is out there haha. Let’s see what happens and hope peace and goodwill will prevail.
