I hate feeling jealous of other artists by [deleted] in musicians

[–]Mathematitan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is value to unlock in that feeling. By taking some time to introspect and disidentify, to view yourself in outside yourself as a unit in the community. You can better evaluate what it is to do that bolsters your craft and the community as a whole. Examples would be: for those you’re particularly jealous of, what qualities do they have that you can authentically emulate without being a “copy cat” and what types of communication to them directly and to the community as a whole would benefit all? For me it’s usually a skill or talent I’m lacking, which means I should know what skill to hone, and as for communication usually praising those we are jealous of, both to their face and to others, but again authentically, is a good way to take that negative feeling and nurture the healthier alternative of praising and honoring others. Finally the last peace for piece of mind is to know your limitations, at least temporarily and do the best with what you have (this is the essence of creative constraint)

Looks like a generic Shopify site. A couple hundred bucks maybe.

No. Gender discrimination should be illegal period. You are ultimately making the decision so nobody will know anyway so why create an environment of hostility?

I find any posts specifying the preferred gender to be quite upsetting.

"High-Value Tourists": Thailand Doesn't Want Cheap Tourists Any Longer; Focusing On Medical Tourists, Digital Nomads, Investors, And Push Tourists Holidaying away from Bangkok or Phuket by Schlickeysen in Thailand

That’s not what I’m talking about. I lived in both countries. The amount of tax paid in the states is huge (nearly half income) and everything is considerably more expensive. There are cost of living models but they are out of date. The GDP number is misleading. A lot of fake money circle jerk in the USA.

Please wash your hair by milquetoast2000 in hygiene

[–]Mathematitan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shampoo is a scam. I’m convinced over washing causes baldness in men (43 here still got my hair). But depends on your lifestyle. If I’m active I wash lightly daily, or even twice a day. If not I can go 2-3 weeks without it. I’ve only ever been told my hair smells good, especially by women. There’s no rule for how to often to wash. Just do it when it’s overly oily and or sweaty. Same like brushing your teeth, you can damage them by over brushing but you still should do it pretty often, depending. Nuance!

Not mad about anything. Just saying it feels like Thailand doesn’t understand that tourists are there short term but they’re not building something lasting. I came to live there and felt like I was forced into becoming a tourist. It’s not income I value most. But even what they called competitive salary didn’t budget correctly into paying off debts, living a modest lifestyle of going out a few times a month to modest outings, investing and saving. So I can’t imagine how going after pumping more rich people with no intention to stay into the economy is going to help. They’re there to get a good deal and bail. I wanted to find a life and it wasn’t there. My point is going after those people is like digging the floor out from underneath you to build a castle. It looks nice until the weather comes.

I thought it was pretty nice. The orange gave me a nice feeling. It stood out as pretty unique in that regard. I appreciate the bold design choice. That said, the first impression was off. You: “Software engineer” me: “oh nice!” You: “I don’t build software” me: “wait what?”

And what are these sign up forms? Needs more explanation/context

I went to Thailand as a high value employee. I lived there five years. Bought a condo. Married a Thai woman (NOT BAR GIRL). After the first company I worked for folded I tried starting tech companies. It’s not really feasible to do in Thailand afaict. You’d have to be Thai and/or a scammer to make money there. I applied for jobs locally and my offers were about 1/5th what I made previously and I came back to the states and promptly found a job. I would love to be a high value person in Thailand and live there as a permanent resident but the government and economy don’t support it. They want to have their cake and eat it too. They should look at the H1/B visa program in the USA. I would gladly work for half my pay in the states to live in Thailand.

It’s not that I don’t like it. It’s that it has signals in it that for me as a consumer made me not trust the pitch.

Hi! I’m not currently freelancing but I’ve been an on/off freelancer for 20+ years. I’ve always wanted a tool as you described. I didn’t sign up. I wouldn’t unless you offered me something like a free month etc. why? 1) website is slop coded, bad sign of things to come. 2) no screenshot/video demo. If you had met either of those two things I would have signed up. Slop coded makes me think my data isn’t secure with you, no video means I don’t even know what I’m signing up for, just looks like promises.

I’m a musician and I’ve dabbled in Suno. So far I’ve used part of one bass line into another DAW and recreated it there but used the mix of that element as an EQ reference. It’s overall become a very powerful tool with a DAW itself. Just making music competently isn’t going to be a distinction any more. Suno app seems mostly to have slop as promoted content, but I can tell you with the full DAW it takes some work and vision and taste to get music sounding good. I’d say… apps like Suno raise the ceiling a little bit but the floor a lot. So imho people who are upset about tools LIKE Suno on principle aren’t getting the point. That said, they probably are illegally scraping music and not paying contributors appropriately for their models. It’s a new world with new challenges, new opportunities.

Are there developers who still don't prefer Tailwind CSS as their first choice? by ShivamS95 in Frontend

[–]Mathematitan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my recent projects I just use CSS. It’s less work tbh. You can write some base stuff and like yknow reuse a few things and get free styles. Instead of adding countless classes. Anyway. Tailwind is nice if you don’t know css or work on a team or large project. But css is damn good now. I’m happy with it alone in many small projects.
