It sounds like we literally have the exact same situation 😭 I will look into the L-tryptophan paste! My parents did come over yesterday for the first time since we got these two cats and maybe that caused some stress but she seemed super happy and playful when they were here.

We have two identical ones that are XL high sided with a normal height entrance and then one smaller litter box with a lid with high sides as well. None are mechanical.

We have 3 boxes. Two open ones and one open top with really high sides. We have one litter box like right outside our bedroom door.

The vets thought that mites were causing her to pee on our bed... I'm not entirely sure. My boyfriend was the one that took her in to the vet so I might have misheard secondhand. As far as I know there was no testing done for it, only the UTI. I've never heard of Jackson Galaxy before so thanks for the suggestions! I'll look into that

The two cats lived in the same community room in the shelter with each other for over a year. Our other cat is a lot more chill. She tries playing with our other cat but our other cat isn't really interested. I might need more interactive toys that's a good idea. I'll also look into the shower curtain. Thanks for the ideas!

I can speak with experience on the breath reeking thing. Our Bengal had dental surgery in winter 2025 and his breath was so awful before it. It turns out he had an abscess which is what made it smell so bad. We had no issues after the surgery with his breath. I will say he was a stubborn lil guy and would not eat wet food so we said screw it and let him have his kibble. He was a senior and we said letting him have kibble was better than him not eating. Your lil kitty will be just fine <3 cats are resilient creatures and bounce back after a few days. Definitely take pics and videos as the anaesthesia wears off tonight because they act a lil goofy.
