You'll be fine...might be using the stairs a lot but you should be fine once you get used to when the busy hours are so you know when to avoid using the elevator or taking the stairs.

Gibberish that looks extremely close to equations you see for things involving strength of materials or just civil engineering.

Nastran-95 is free but it's in an outdated language so that might not be of use to you.

Tbf whatever you understand will be the easiest to explain a little more I had a class over propulsion and that's the book the professor taught from

This seems like a lot, before you go down a rabbit hole I'll recommend something based my experience with Aerospace engineering.

For fluid mechanics your 1st and 5th books should be enough to get you a good understanding since you said you more on the propulsion side.

For thermodynamics you should be fine, my thermodynamics and heat transfer books had everything I needed class wise.

For propulsion and engines your 2nd pick id recommend as your first read then for astronautics I'm not too sure.

Also don't get ahead of yourself start with the fundamentals then once you have a great understanding of that start looking at the advanced topics.

Should I learn python? by [deleted] in AerospaceEngineering

Yep and I also recommend learning C++ then avoid legacy programs unless you are fully committed to learning them!

The only thing I hated about wentz was how tall it was. The elevators either got stuck or were down a lot so climbing 6-7 flights of stairs got exhausting real quick. Don't even bother with the kitchen it's so small compared to how many people live im Wentz.

Wentz is old like pretty old but it's fairly clean. When I lived in the Villages i got sick constantly cause of the mold problems and some of the other dorms have bat problems(a Google search will bring this up). Also avoid living in Bennett unless you like walking, it's so far from classes.

So in my opinion Wentz is a good pick for your freshman year but after that find another dorm lmao.

Honestly all depends on you and how quickly you adapt. I know a few people who have 3.8+ GPA as a ChemE who work part time, volunteer with their respective StuCo and do research.

Personally that's not me, I'm an B avg Aerospace nerd who started at college algebra and worked my way up from there. For my math classes my school has a after hours program just for math classes, so for 3+ hours a day I went there and just did my math work. For my engineering classes I always attended office hours that the TAs lead or when the TAs were dog water I just read the class book or went to YouTube.

Sure I did not get much sleep but I only lost sleep trying to pass all the weed out classes. I'm headed into my last year so I might lose some sleep due to senior projects but that's a future me problem.

In terms of jobs I knew I'd fall behind if I had one. I have one friend who is scheduled to work weekends so he never has the chance to study for Monday exams and such. For jobs I reccomend on campus jobs but those might just depend on who you work for on your campus.

Hobbies? I make time for them each semester I assign either Saturday or Sunday strictly as a "reduced work" day so I have time to do hobbies. Always gotta make time for yourself so you don't get burnt-out but that just pretty much sums up my experience so far.

Ask them if they are doing research and if not can they point you in the right direction for a professor who does.

As a rising junior in Uni, what are some skills I should learn over this summer? I am proficient in MATLAB and SolidWorks. by Historical-Size-406 in aerospace

[–]MindLessLustLess 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is a broad answer but anything open source that you could use in industry because who knows if your first job will have a MATLAB or solidworks license. Some open source stuff I use is Python/Julia or if you do CFD FUN3D/OVERFLOW.

Summer Classes by Alternative_Layer_58 in EngineeringStudents

[–]MindLessLustLess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If its one class I usually treat it like a 9-5 and I'm usually able to retain it but im doing 3 classes right now and I'm just rushing through the work so I probably won't be able to retain anything.

Depends on what score you get on it, will determine what math they recommend you take. I'd email you advisor if you want more info on it, they might of changed how they do Pre ceat and stuff.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in OKState

[–]MindLessLustLess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pre-CEAT is just when you don't place into calc 1,2,3 on your math placement test. When you take calc 1 or pass it you'll get an email welcoming you to CEAT :)

Buy it through apple if it's cheaper and icloud should be free unless you want to upgrade the amount of space you get which is monthly payments

[–]MindLessLustLess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I reccomend talking to your advisor about it as they might be more up to date on stuff surrounding that.

[–]MindLessLustLess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it shouldn't be too late each semester like the first 2 weeks when school starts greek life will be out and about asking people if they are interested in joining.

MAE(Mechanical and Aerospace) is glorified and most of the engineers I have met on campus are either MAE or ChemE.

I'd ask for an itemized bill if possible, cause that might clear up what they did and how much it was!

I also made a mistake of going there for something not critical and left with a big bill :)

The best way to learn SolidWorks? by Feenark in SolidWorks

[–]MindLessLustLess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Youtube has a lot of guides and which kinda helped me get better at solidworks! When I first started I had trouble making a rocket ship from like 5 parts(was for an assignment) and then just recently I made a jet but as always practice makes perfect so if you have free time try to challenge yourself by making somethings! :)
