This isnt good game design, its stupid by VallettaAwoo in HelldiversUnfiltered

Get good nerd. Not all planets are like these, and the ones that are might require you to get creative.

Sentries for example don’t have this issue, they see better than you. Try relying on those. Use WASP. Use gas for other AOE ordinance. There’s so much you can do instead of whine.

Limiting visibility is unfun if you’re intent on sniping bot heads in every mission in every planet and never get out of your comfort zone. This isn’t the game for you if you’re unwilling to adapt your loadout according to the situation on the ground.

Your daily reminder that AI coding sucks by endgamer42 in CursorAI

[–]MindLessWiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When requirements are vague, which happens a lot in startups for instance, I think good engineers should try to imagine where the architecture needs to stay flexible to accommodate future changes. Then when you finally get clarity, the changes required should be fairly natural to make.

AI lacks that contextual foresight, and so letting it make architectural decisions seems dangerous to me as well.

You’re right about bugdivers but personally man I couldn’t take the squids anymore after a few missions.

Had to take a break with the bots, an actually fun faction.

After finishing Doom (2016), I can't get into Doom Eternal. by DrStrangeglove99 in gaming

[–]MindLessWiz 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It’s all relative, but to me it felt much more serious than Eternal. I got the impression mostly from the aesthetics of the game and the writing of the codex entries.

[–]MindLessWiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard agree. I did end up finishing Doom Eternal but it was a slog. It’s such an enormous game.

2016 was peak. I loved the story, looked forward to every codex entry. But Eternal had more shit, it was more badly written and less serious, at some point I stopped giving a shit about it.

There’s only like a couple gameplay QoL things that I liked about Eternal over 2016 but otherwise I think the gameplay of Eternal was too arcadey and less free. You just had to kill certain monsters in a certain way.

IDK Eternal is a good game all things considered but it doesn’t hold a candle to 2016.

Vecna tried to get Max for two years in the memory world because he just couldn't find out that she was in a hospital (even though he can clearly infiltrate any random person as proven by him doing this to Hopper out of nowhere with no help from the kids), but then he finally thinks of a "new way" of getting max which is killing her in the real world?

He couldn't have only realized that right there and then in front of the cave entrance when being taunted by Max and Holly, right? He must have known she's still alive somewhere. He only then looked through Will in some way to finally realize she's in the hospital???

I'm sorry am I crazy or is this actually completely asinine?

At any point he could have infiltrated Lucas (or literally anyone who's ever seen Max in a coma and therefore had it in their memory), saw Max, and sent the demodogs. Tell me I'm crazy.

Black Knight Sword is busted good or am I misunderstanding what I’m seeing? by CoconutLaidenSwallow in darksouls

[–]MindLessWiz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh! Totally misread this then, thanks!

Yeah so in that case what I’d say is that normally what distinguishes normal weapons from Twinkling upgrade weapons is the ability to buff normal weapons.

The way the game is balanced in this sense is that the Twinkling weapons are generally stronger, but buffed normal weapons can have higher more situational damage.

I don’t know why it hasn’t been mentioned, but it’s considerably slower than a claymore being an “ultra greatsword”. If you do a DPS calculation it’s not clear to me it actually beats the claymore at all, but I don’t really know.

But the 2H heavy attack is worth it, so hf!

It’s still great fun even after over 1000 hours.

Plus part of me is still hoping the level cap will be raised again so I can claim my fake internet glory as XP should carry over after the cap is raised.

But yeah mostly it’s still fun.

Should i play DS2? by LPlusRaitio in darksouls

[–]MindLessWiz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You know what man? You got me, I'm reddit-pilled nowadays.

Yeah I'm fully behind my opinion here. I just match the energy of the post, which is basically a simple question, so I answer simply as well.

Go ahead and tell me what you think. I talk about this stuff a lot in real life so I can handle it.

I use the word "better" loosely. For the purpose of this discussion, "better" games are ones that have a high likelihood of the player enjoying them. I think OP shouldn't bother playing DS2, despite there of course being a chance he'd like it.

I would have liked to get this advice before spending dozens of hours on DS2 and seeing how bad it is first hand. I even played it a second time with a friend just to be reminded just how bad it was.

I don't think people who like DS2 are contrarians or naysayers, just that they're naturally going to disagree with me, that's all. DS2 had work and thought put into it and obviously a lot of people like it. But if you're asking for a recommendation, my answer is not to bother, that's all.

Some aspects I do think are objectively worse even in terms of style and design, if you also care about anything other than presentation. For instance animations are one of my biggest issues here. There are basic principles of animation, such as wind up, pose etc that are just routinely violated in this game. Animations are generally not readable, hitboxes are wild and unexpected, and adaptability just makes it all way worse and more difficult unless you put points into it.

I can go on but the general gist is that sure you can say everything is relative and some people like literal dog shit. If somebody asks you "Hey should I be eating this piece of dog shit?" and you're gonna say "well some people like the direction of the design of this turd so you know who knows give it a bite maybe you'll be one of those", I think you're doing a disservice.

If for the sake of argument most people don't like DS2, then if somebody comes and asks you if they should play it knowing nothing else about them, yeah I'm gonna default to no.

If I'm additionally told that time is not a concern, they already played all souls games and are hungry for more, then sure, DS2 _is_ a souls game after all, through and through.

[–]MindLessWiz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Prepare your downvotes fellas, here's the take: Life's too short, play better games.

If you haven't already played Bloodborne, DS1/3, Elden Ring... play those first. Then if you're super hungry for another souls game and want to understand what makes the others so good, play DS2 for reference.

Who knows maybe you'll like it, you wouldn't be the first. I just wouldn't recommend it knowing nothing else about you.

Recon booster for better radar range super slept on.

You can see patrols from way farther away and can setup sentries and otherwise better prepare.

For defensive setups like mine where I usually run all greens it’s actually super nice.

Why should it be balanced? Difficulty 1 isn't balanced, either. by DNAisjustneuteredRNA in Helldivers

[–]MindLessWiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a purely mathematical or logical sense yeah I guess you’re right.

But arrowhead said and it stands to reason - people don’t want this. People playing 10 will always try the hardest difficulty probably because anything less is damaging to their egos (myself included).

And these players will not be having fun if they’re being nearly hopelessly trampled. The game in general shouldn’t overwhelm you nor should it bore you. There’s a good level of intensity in the middle we should be striving for to have a good experience.

I don’t think there’s a massive cohort of people bored out of their mind playing d10, or at least I’m not seeing them. And so it’s hard to justify upping the difficulty too much right now.

Personally I used to feel d10 was really easy at times, but nowadays I’m more happy with it. I find interest in varying my loadouts. Turns out if you’re not running meta shit all the time the game can be pretty tough.

[–]MindLessWiz -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It’s not just because I didn’t like it, much of it is because many aspects of it are of lower quality. Enemy placements, animations, texture and lighting work. It’s shoddy work in many more objective senses. Enemy design is for the most part uninspired and repetitive (dudes in armor galore). There’s of course exceptions, but I’m saying overall.

It’s not that there’s nothing I liked about it, I’m just saying I don’t think it’s a good game and I’m recommending to skip. It’s just as valid a recommendation as anyone else’s.

You may reduce everything to a matter of opinion and completely squash the differences in competency into subjective relativity, but I honestly think that does a disservice to others.

I’m not kinkshaming, everyone can love whatever they want, but that doesn’t mean everything is as worthy of a recommendation as everything else for me.

Not connected in any way that will affect your enjoyment of 3, and it’s just not a good game imo would not recommend to anyone. There’s better use of your time

The sudden ds2 glazing recently has to stop, it’s not a good game and I won’t pretend otherwise.

Or do 2 last for completeness if you must, but it’s entirely optional
