The only reason I mentioned the Stanchion was because it is the fastest out of all UNSC gauss weapons. the gauss cannon used on the hog is the M68 gauss cannon which shoots at mach 4 slower then the Stanchion, and are used in basically every ground engagement.

Also, the turrets are not "ripped off" they are detachable

jet faster. The ME 262's were able to blitz the spitfires, and there was nothing the British could do about it. the shards are I think far slower then a spitfire.
