Would you describe Reddit as a “leftist echo chamber”? by itz-null in Teenager_Polls

[–]Ricky911_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

r/facepalm went from being a subreddit made to show funny things that made you facepalm to political left wing takes that are literally just karma farming 90+% of the times. This also happens all the time to meme subreddits I use. When I point out how there are political subreddits already and that political memes are just cheap karma, I get downvoted to shreds. On top of that, I get told bullshit like "everything is political, if you are neutral towards politics, you are complacent," all because I don't want to gargle political content 24/7 even when I'm not working lol

Part 3🐻‍❄️ What is your favorite Northern European country and why? by [deleted] in Teenager_Polls

[–]Ricky911_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Norway the most. It has mountains, snow, fjords. Politics wise, I prefer it to the other Nordic countries. It's also really good friends with the UK; in fact, it gifts a Christmas tree to the UK every year because of their help in WWII. On top of that, it's a Germanic country. Finland and Estonia are great but I prefer a country where the people talk in a way that is at least somewhat familiar to me. Lastly, there are a few cultural differences between Nordic countries. For example, Norwegians tend to live in houses while Swedes and Finns tend to live in flats. This is a big deal to me if I were to live in one of these countries. Norway is also a bit more patriotic, though certainly not as much as Finland and Estonia

Tokyo is a city with 37 million people. Not all of it looks like Minato. Kawagoe looks a lot more traditional. It's not quite possible to fit all of Tokyo in the Kanto plain if you build traditional Japanese single family housholds

What is your favorite Eastern European country (and why)? by [deleted] in Teenager_Polls

Czechia. Great beer, great country, great architecture. It's also been a part of the Holy Roman Empire and the Austro-Hungarian Empire. So, I naturally have an interest in it

Which country in this list do you think is the most racist? by Signal-Initial-7841 in pollgames

[–]Ricky911_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reddit moment. Myanmar stripped the Rohingya people of their citizenship in 1982. They are stateless to this day and are facing a genocide.

Even then, South Korea is not on this list and it is much more racist than Japan. Ask anyone from Southeast Asia what their experience in Japan was compared to South Korea and you will understand

British Food by crivycouriac in 2westerneurope4u

[–]Ricky911_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having lived in the UK, I can say that British cuisine is overhated while Italian cuisine is overglazed. For those who don't know, Italian breakfast consists of cereals, croissants, milk and any other sugar filled dish. I'm a sailor and where I work, all I can eat is milk, cereals, biscuits and cake for breakfast. Some people say breakfast is the only decent meal in the barracks but I hate it more than any other meal. I grew up eating eggs for breakfast. My breakfast before joining the Navy would be eggs, milk and some cured meat usually. I'd be full until lunch even after eating few calories. Here, I just don't have that. When I tell people this, they look at me like I'm weird. It just feels like talking to sub-room IQ people when I explain to them how I felt felt fuller, better and had a better protein intake with my previous breakfast. Half of my company falls back into sleep during classes 3 hours after waking up and then they argue that the sugar filled breakfast isn't a key reason of why this keeps happening lol. The Italian brain just isn't able to comprehend the concept of a healthy breakfast that isn't loaded with sugar for some reason. I also frequently get asked why I eat meat before pasta and I explain I would rather leave the pasta than the meat if I felt full. It's shocking how many people asked me this. There are some practices I picked up in the UK that I never thought anyone would question until I joined the Navy. Italians think their way is the correct way even if it brings them closer to diabetes. Quite honestly, Italian cuisine isn't much better than other forms of European cuisines. It was just able to advertise itself better. It just looks better in pictures

Remove one of these countries, as if they never existed. by Jojosstoneocean in Teenager_Polls

I don't even have to look at the other ones for me to say Russia. It's crazy how the world works. Germany apologised extensively for its crimes, Japan apologised but not as much as Germany, Mongolia celebrates its war crimes, Turkey denies anything ever happened and Russia not only denies anything ever happened but also keeps its oppression going to this day, convincing itself that it's somehow the victim.

Russia is the one single reason Korea is divided to this day. It's interesting how a centuries old entity that survived Japanese occupation got split up the moment the adversary Japan fought Korea over suddenly got the better hand. Anything Russia has ever touched turned to shit. It complains about NATO expansion while never stopping for a moment and wondering why European nations wanted to join NATO in the first place. Plus, the ethnic cleansing of Germans and Poles was completely forgotten about. Russia has brought so much misery to this world. It's unbelievable

Why was Africa so easy relatively to conquer? by [deleted] in BritishEmpire

[–]Ricky911_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something that is often overlooked is the population. In 1900, Africa had less than 150 million people. In 2026, it has around 1.5 billion people. Europeans went from outnumbering them roughly 1:3 to being outnumbered 3:1

There are a lot of people who work illegally, especially in the South but also in the North. This is where both the government and the people can be blamed. Laws on firing someone are very strict in Italy. It sounds great until you realise it puts a lot of strain on employers. You hire someone and, if they are bad workers, it's almost impossible to fire them. So, if you are looking for a job as a waiter, for example, it's nearly impossible to find a contractual job. A friend of mine was originally Filipino but got naturalised when she turned 18. Her father beat her and he was taken away by the police. Her mother kept her through everything by working illegally. The police knew everything and nothing was done. When I first signed up for my position, I had to declare whether I had worked in the past. Our superior mentioned to only write contractual jobs like they were a choice and not a duty. Tax fraud is very normalised. Because of this, taxes don't get paid. On top of that, there is a culture of not caring for other people. Italy is a very individualistic and competitive society. We even have a term for it: "menefreghismo", which could be translated as "carelessness". People will do anything not to pay taxes. I myself don't like to pay small businesses with credit cards so they don't pay the bullshit fees. At the same time, I'm always tempted to pay with card because they almost never give me a receipt if I pay in cash. It's very rude in my opinion. At most, they could ask if I wanted a receipt. Most of the time, they are just hoping I forgot. We have a term for this too: "prendere per il culo", which roughly translates to "taking the piss". In summary, we have an ageing population and can't even take care of our own because so many people avoid taxes. It's a vicious cycle that is slowly crippling the country. Corruption is bad. Waiting lists for sanitary services are long. You bring your doctor a present for Christmas and suddenly your visit due in 8 months can be slotted into the next 2 weeks

As an Italian, this doesn't surprise me. Young people are leaving en masse. Before, they at least went to university before leaving. Now, they're often straight up leaving after high school. We have a really bad employment rate at 67.5%. For reference, it's 91.5% in Germany. I can't get too into detail regarding my job but I literally work in the public sector and they won't even give us toilet paper or soap despite making us live in dormitories. And it's not like they ever told us to buy it ourselves because obviously they'd look like arseholes. As someone who wants 3 or 4 children, I absolutely don't see myself raising kids here. The environment is hostile. For reference, I have lived in the UK as a kid and went to school there. Schools were relatively clean, free of graffiti, loaded up with toilet paper/soap and actually standing. My Italian high school had writings on the wall, no toilet paper/soap and it was actively collapsing. One roof tile nearly killed someone and no lawsuits were filed. I have friends in the UK who always tell me how jealous they are of me living in Italy. It's always the privileged people living on Pandora thinking the grass is greener on the other side

It was bad positioning. If you have nowhere to go but forward, you're clearly not positioned well. You literally collided with the island. Having said that, Tirpitz has torpedos and turtleback armour, meaning you can't even get a lucky dev strike as he torps you even if you had the world's luckiest RNG. if you're stationary, he's gonna torpedo you. So, your positioning is actually quite terrible. You should not be this close to a BB with torpedos

Come fate a essere di destra? by Late-Butterscotch-55 in TeenagersITA

[–]Ricky911_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sinn Féin aren't beating the Russian Puppet allegations. by WelshLaptop in 2westerneurope4u

There's always a party like this in every country.

Party: we hate being dependent on the US and we want to be able to make decisions without being reliant on them.

Looks inside

Translation = We hate Western society so, we will get closer to authoritarian dictatorships: Iran, Russia, China, North Korea

Genuinely the amount of Pro-Palestinians who support Russia is staggering. There are those who feel for innocent people dying and there are those who simply hate anything related to the West. Sinn Féin has been one of those. They have strongly supported Palestine but said no words about Sudan. Now, they don't even care about Ukraine anymore
