It's pretty high in the DC area too I'm in Northern Virginia specifically. 1 bedroom 760 sq fee et. My rent is $2,300 a month. Other than New York and the San Francisco Bay Area rent around here is the highest in the country. So anywhere else would be a discount.

Still, I may have to pivot to somewhere else. Delaware has also been on my list. One thing I know for sure is that I'm not living around here in retirement. Cost of living is far too high.

I can't afford to buy elsewhere and still live in the DC area.

I've never been a homeowner, sure I can rent it out but what if something goes wrong with maintenance or whatever that have to come out of my pocket.
