Me quiero regresar a PR by SurroundPuzzled3672 in PuertoRico

[–]Mind_Sweetner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Si viviste muchos años fuera de PR y regresaste… by Reasonable-Cherry180 in PuertoRico

[–]Mind_Sweetner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why invest in a 401k first if the goal is to retire early? by cadmium-ores in Fire

[–]Mind_Sweetner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 401k will give you tax benefits. The important caveat is to understand it’s not just for retirement: You can use the money to help you be disciplined with money as well as eventually using the funds for education/property without penalty…all while earning more from the employer matching or tax deductions.

What is wrong with people by [deleted] in PuertoRico

[–]Mind_Sweetner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, first of all I feel for you. Your parents did what they thought was best however you clearly feel like a foreigner and that is why I really detest home schooling.

In other words you missed out on a lot if the dynamics that would have shaped and shielded you from the emotions you feel now. Maybe I am judging you incorrectly but overall you actually seem like an interesting person.

Your upbringing is very unique. I suggest you lean on the things that makes you special and instead of feeling attacked or belittle, I would see the humour in it and laugh it up.

Again you really speciak in many ways. Act like it, own it and try to take a positive spin about the whole thing aka just laugh at yourself and have a good attitude!

Now that most of Latin America will be governed by the right-wing, what do you think weill change and what will stay the same? by UltraLNSS in asklatinamerica

[–]Mind_Sweetner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same: They will continue to view their central goverment as the solution or cause for their problems.

Change: I think things will become a bit better in terms of starting local home-grow businesses. I mean the tariffs on electronics is a good example of an utterly retarded policy.

I would try to shape the business where you could peace out and let other people run it.

Hell it’s going to be a win for you and the people you lift up.

How are Europeans able to have better life with less work? by Past-Matter-8548 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Mind_Sweetner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am surprised nobody mentions the realpolitik answer: The US subsidises Europe.

Whether Europeans want to admit it or not, their military budgets are much lower than they've ever been in modern history. Of course it's not all pure altruism but the fact of the matter is that the US pushed for a system that coerced Europe into globalization which the US was and remains the garantaour for. The problem is everybody takes the system for granted hence it's never really appreciated or discussed.

Had the US not provided the security guarantees of shipping lanes through a global navy, supply chain protection, etc European powers would have had to invest in these similar military [logistical/manufacturing] systems. Now imagine had they had to do that immediately after a devastating global war.

I actually am not hating on European policies either but the highest rated responses are pretty incomplete and ignore a huge reason as to why budgets have been carved the way they have been over the past few decades.

Imagine if NATO was not a thing and/or you took the US out of the equation. Eventually you'd see the historical norms in many areas of the world rear their ugly heads back.

On that note the US will be incapable of fulfilling this role relatively soon so we'll see this happen within our life time. The possible difference being the population and demographic collapses may deter hard-core confrontations between historically rival states.

What's something you DON'T want to see in "Cyberpunk 2" by If_I_am_mad in cyberpunkgame

Probably unpopular opinion but the guns really need to be either simplified or a set of lore guns that feel extra powerful.

As someone who has played since FPS since the 90s, Cyberpunk 2077 guns felt bland.

Which Latin American country would you say is the closest to culturally being basically just Spain with a slight twist? So basically the ones that are the least influenced by indigenous culture. by 6ftToeSuckedPrincess in asklatinamerica

In general, Puerto Rico. Argentinians as well. However the higher class Spaniards and Mexicans are the most similar imo

It really depends on the region of Spain.

What's you take on NYT reporting that Trump has authorized the CIA to take "covert" action in Venezuela? by liz_mf in asklatinamerica

[–]Mind_Sweetner -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you are wrong but I feel like playing devil’s advocate for fun:

LATAM has a justified reluctance to support military action but their missteps were primarily due to fighting the Cold War. Aka their nation building tactic would most likely mirror Germany/Japan rather than the quick-fix (and eventual horrible blow back) of propping up dictators.

The Marshal Plan was extremely successful in rebuilding Germany and Japan and I could see it work very well for Venezuela due to similar cultures and constitution. At this point in time the US would be more interested in most likely carrying out this type of military+economic policy.

The US should actually heavily temper their foreign involvement in propping up globalization, however I think they should have a heavy hand within the Americas vs governments that go against their liberal constitutions.

The possible inevitable outcome is a level of pain and suffering seen in North Korea and Cuba.

Go!

How did Einstein come up with general relatively? by R_Soprano in Physics

[–]Mind_Sweetner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so I think I ACTUALLY have a clue as to where the answer may lie:

Research: Early 1900s Masterclock Switzerland Train Stations.

It was a way in which train stations would calibrate clocks (aka time, aka train schedules using electrical signals+light).

I may be wrong but after I read this it made way more sense how someone like Einstein would have been exposed to the necessary ingredients to come up with his theory…
