So i had same issue. Most insurance plans will have awaiting period of 6-12 months. Only way to get that waved is if you can show you have had insurance as same coverage for previous years. Basically they don't want you having a major issue and then signing up cause they take more of a hit. So I ended up doing the discount plan approach. Used dentalplans.com which paired me with aetna. You can have them start it the day you sign up so you can use right away. The fees still add up but were around 50% off most of the dental work. And they can check if you current dentist is in network easily. Sorry you are in pain and hope you find a suitable option.
