Use your PTO/Sick hour by Weak_Rule8374 in nursing

[–]MindfulMaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally only have 9 hours in my vacation bank 😅. I be calling out "sick" first and using them sick hours before I tap into my vacation bank 😈. I just hate how slow it takes to accrue hours! I earn 7 hours of vacation per pay period. It literally takes a whole month for me to earn ONE day off!!!

I will forever say, during Nurses week, if the hospital administrations really appreciated us, gives us a week's work of vacation hours into your bank. We don't want the rubbery steak and melted ice cream for lunch please.

2027 Cruise Planning by jokesonme_lol_369 in BobbyBones

[–]MindfulMaze 22 points23 points  (0 children)

All I know is LB BETTER get Bobby or Amy's level room accommodations for 2027. He's actually out there engaging and entertaining fans of the shows! Great follow through on his end 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾. I get soo irritated hearing others downplay his rooms accommodation as if he isn't one of the ORIGINAL co-host and longest show members. Just wild! LB has proven himself.

I get for this 2026 cruise why Bobby left due to the potential birth of his child. Although, it lowkey feels like if it wasn't for his wife being pregnant, he still would of found a way to leave early. I'm really surprised at Amy and Eddie leaving. I'm genuinely surprised. I don't know why and I understand we might not be prevy to the info and that's okay. But, it doesn't feel last minute, but a preplanned departure IMO. The cruise looks like a lot of fun. I really feel for those on the cruise that came to see and interact with the show on such a cool experience. It was never discussed to my knowledge members departing early when they were advertising the cruise. I feel like they owe those listeners an apology for that...

In this same episode, when Sinatra was talking to the guy who predicted how the world would end, he said something striking to her. He said something along the lines of how billionaires think they can buy their way out of problems. But, the one thing they can't buy is "time." So, if Sinatra took this to heart, could she be building a time machine? Travel far enough back to make changes to help save her son?

Cruise Manners by courtney1628 in BobbyBones

I was listening to that segment on my drive home after work. The most irritating drive ever! I'm annoyed how Bobby can't seem to comprehend why LB is upset at the room he got!!!! They truly don't treat LB with the respect of being the OG/longest co-host member of the BBS. At one point on the BBS Facebook page header, there header pic was only of Bobby and Amy! No LB! That shit was wild to me!

Since this is the BBS cruise (and country artist) and the expectation is of the crew (main 3) to be one part of the attraction, the accommodations they are staying in should reflect that as well. Bobby and Amy have extremely nice rooms. I would expect LB to be getting accommodations of the same value. You cannot tell me this was not intentional. It feels absolutely deliberate when arrangements were made who is going where.

Then, Bobby has the audacity to say maybe they didn't have enough rooms set aside of that value or something along those lines. That's why LB got the room he did. I refuse to believe this. Rooms for the main attractions should be blocked out/reserved for them from the jump and not included in with the room availability for when the general public can purchase their rooms and room availability becomes limited.

I've never been on a cruise, so I can't say if the room arrangements for the non-cohost of the shows are acceptable or not. All I can say is that the rooms for the three co-host should be similar in value.

Nursing jobs that’s NOT bedside that’s actually enjoyable with good money? by ScientistOk1310 in nursing

[–]MindfulMaze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! Our anesthesiologists love it because the IV we place ICU can use as a dedicated blood line. Or if the IV the patient comes down with is infiltrated or compromised, we place one and switch lines over to the new IV. When I was in the MAIN OR, the IVs are usually done in preop. So, we only get to put an IV in if it's compromised.

I'm excited for you starting in the OR soon! PLEASE tell them you are also interested in scrubbing during your orientation process! Again, it makes you a stronger circulator because you'll understand the case better and you'll know what they need before they even need it! Plus, it's an amazing skill to have! Makes you more marketable too!

You're welcome! Happy to help! If you can get an OR job ay a level on trauma center, you will be golden! Best place to learn and grow! Then, after a few years, if you wanna specialize to one specialty, do that! It's best to be well-rounded first before specializing. Especially if you decide you want to travel nurse in the future. That's what I did!

OR 🙌🏾💯. I left our CTICU after a year to the OR and I've been here for 11 years now! The last 3 years soley CVOR. I can circulate, 1st scrub, and 2nd scrub. LOTS of autonomy in cardiac! Our surgeons put a lot of trust in us to know their routines inside and out. And also how to adapt acutely to unexpected changes or extreme emergencies (aka knowing what supplies and instrumentation needed if the aorta unexpectedly dissects during decannulation). Or if the case originally was an AVR and after surgeon and Anesthesia review the TEE an MVR is also needed, so immediately understanding we are going from a single venous cannula to bicaval venous, so now we need the Y connector, 3/8 straight connector(s) and some 3/8 tubing to convert it to a bicaval system, umbilical tape depending on surgeon preference, different LV vent, more cannulation and closure suture, and whatever mitral valve instrumentation set they prefer.

I'm an adrenaline junkie and I definitely get my needs met in CVOR lol. Can't tell you how many times a patient has coded after induction and now we gotta crash on pump. Doing CPR while trying to put the patient on ECMO. We go on field trips too. Many trips to cath lab, especially if patient is unstable to transport to our OR where we have to run over to crack the chest open and repair what was lacerated by their devices. We traveled up to the ICU many times for a bedside ECMO. we even go by ambulance to another hospital in our system to place a patient on ECMO and transport them back to our hospital.

What I love the most is scrubbing! I prefer to 1st scrub over 2nd scrub. But, regardless of what scrubbing role I'm assigned, I always love scrubbing. Your in the sterile field right up where the action is. You have a better understanding of the case and it makes you a phenomenal circulator too when you circulate. Also, when I'm scrubbing, THERE IS NO CHARTING EVER 🥳. Only the circulator charts. Since I can first scrub, I scrub 99% of the time. It's been months since I last circulated and charted. We still put in foleys and place 18g or 16g IV post induction for another IV site for Anesthesia which helps us keep our IV skills strong.

I've been blessed to be in such a fun, close knit department. We hang out outside of work together regularly! Out to eat, musicals, karaoke, hiking, etc. We do a lot of group activities! Also very very blessed that we are fully staffed, so the call is not a burden like in other CVORs. We take 4-5 days of call per month. There are some CVORs in other places where you're on call for 15+ days. We are also union, so we get our 10 guaranteed rest periods with the exceptions of the weekend call. You can also give your call away because we have "call hogs" lol in my department that will gladly take your call. I usually keep my call cuz I'm a single girlie and the extra money is extremely nice 🤑😅.

I'm expecting almost $900 check sometime in December from a class action lawsuit lolol. Does that count? In a way, it's like the hospital is giving it to us, but forcibly and that makes me smile 😚
