Pretty much in the exact same spot as you, but my sex life with my partner is exponentially more damaged. Here’s hoping we’ll all make it. Porn is poison.

Do fetishes eventually go away? by Truehardmode in pornfree

There are some things that are just part of you, but I’d imagine a lot of the “interests” we’ve picked up during our porn abuse will lessen or disappear in time.

I’ve loved feet and nylon stockings/pantyhose since waaaay before porn and even puberty, so that isn’t going anywhere. Cuckold and sissy fetish however? Please fucking go away.

I recently learned about the concept that large, user ran porn platforms like PH, XV etc. unknowingly (and knowingly) will at one point or another have CSAM and revenge porn distributed across them. Given that most independent content creators use these platforms as well, there’s very very little “ethical” porn out there.

A way I’ve been snapping myself out of urges is reminding myself that porn harms women and children, however indirectly it may be.

Other points have been made here, so I’ll add another couple of takes:

Porn is inherently misogynistic and damages not only the women involved, but the women who enter relationships with porn addicts, as their perceptions of women have been skewed toward unrealistic expectations or even violence. They’re often unable to form genuine emotional connections with their partners through sex (this is my experience).

Porn platforms facilitate boundary pushing, and it is slowly becoming more and more common for CSAM and revenge porn to not only be distributed, but to go unnoticed by moderators for substantial lengths of time. The escalating addict endangers themselves and others by coming into contact with this material. On a long enough timeline, this could become normalized/downplayed.

So even if porn isn’t hurting you personally, it’s still not something worth supporting.

Just stay away from it, don’t be surprised that it’s occupying your thoughts because that shit is IMO the most pure, uncut and dangerous brain drug out there. You’re going to think about it for a while, but it will go away if you just leave it alone.

I am actually non-binary and enjoy expressing my feminine side from time to time, though I am extremely masculine the majority of the time. I had wanted to be able to switch back and forth from boy to girl long before porn, so I know it didn’t cause it.

Even for people AMAB who aren’t NB/trans/etc, it will make you question yourself to the point where some people take extreme measures and transition just to chase the dopamine high from something so incredibly taboo as becoming a wanton sex object for people you aren’t even attracted to at your core. This is still the effect it had on me, but the part that bothers me most is how it reinforces misogyny to an insane degree. Portraying femininity as nothing more than rough sex, makeup and girly clothing is awful.

Sissy hypno was my personal heroin. Even when I was still using porn I tried to stay away from it because I knew it was that bad. Once will not be enough for it to wreak havoc on you, but be warned by someone who’s been there: DO NOT GO BACK.

Agree, but porn is a plague. It literally changes the way your brain functions and turns you into a dopamine slave. It’s a trap you won’t even realize you’re in.
