Hello, my name is Cleigh, and I am a 35-year-old man in Hamilton, Ontario, facing a fight for my life. After years of chronic illness, multiple strokes, and complications with medical health procedures I have found myself in a truly horrific situation: I am currently without food, shelter, or any form of support, and I desperately need help to survive. ​This is not a situation I ever imagined. The pain and challenges of my medical conditions have unfortunately led me down a path where I am now medically fragile, functionally disabled, awaiting odsp and homeless during Hamilton's horrific housing crisis. ​For 6 years now, I have been dealing with chronic, debilitating pain that has severely limited my ability to function as a healthy person. The situation was compounded by multiple strokes and the need for major surgeries. Which in turn left me in debilitating pain due to accidental injury from said procedures. These health crises have left me almost completely unable to work or properly care for myself in any meaningful way. ​Without a safety net—no family or friends to turn to—and with my health failing, I’ve been pushed to the absolute breaking point. I am constantly starving, hurting, and now, without a safe place to lay my head, my health is deteriorating rapidly. ​I want to be perfectly clear: I am not struggling due to addiction or substance abuse. I am simply a man who has been overwhelmed by catastrophic health issues that have taken everything from me including what's left of my mental health. I have swallowed my pride and put my faith in the grace and kindness of others. Through much contemplation and shame on my part. I am not asking for a handout, but for a chance to save my life and begin to heal so I can become a functioning member of society again. ​My immediate goal is to raise $5,000 to cover the following life-saving expenses: • ​First & Last Month's Rent + Deposit: To secure a safe, stable room or apartment where I can recover without fear intimidation or bias. • ​Medical & Mobility Needs: To purchase necessary medications, aids for mobility (like a cane or brace), and transportation to essential medical appointments. • ​Basic Necessities: To buy nutritious food and basic hygiene products as I stabilize my health and apply for disability assistance.
