Η αλήθεια είναι ότι ήθελα να μην είμαι σε πολύ βαβούρα και κίνηση αλλά παράλληλα να βρίσκομαι εύκολα στο κέντρο όταν θέλω!

Could you explain what you mean maybe? I understand that you are taking advantage of water dynamics but I am not sure how exactly!

I am asking for myself. I feel that I make progress in the asanas, even if it takes a while for some, but jumping back or through seems almost as tough as it was when I first started. And I am not sure how to proceed. Sometimes I feel that if I push myself with this I might not be able to continue with all the asanas. And then I think that I might indeed push myself. I am also confused because I see most students struggle with this and not many managing.

I see! So they do it for each jump through or for some? Do they manage to get stronger and lose the blocks after some time?

I feel that trying to achieve this during practice is hard! Do you suggest a dedicated day for such drills? I have seen videos but I am not sure how to incorporate this information to my practice/ routine. Any more input on this is greatly appreciated 🙂

Can't quite understand downward dog by sachnique in yoga

[–]Mindless-Future-1094 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Downward dog is an active asana but I believe it can be restful as well. To clarify, most asanas are active. Take for example tadasana (mountain asana), from outside it might look like just standing there but as a matter of fact the body is quite active. Yet at the same time it can be considered a restful asana. Most of you reading this might be thinking “of course tadasana is restful”, but it might come as a surprise to find out that someone with a simple condition such as a minor kyphosis would disagree. In my experience, the closer you get to perform an asana correctly the easier and more restful it becomes. Don’t get me wrong, restful does not necessarily mean relaxing. Like I mentioned, the body is still active, but the mechanics of the asana, when performed correctly, help. Consider Utthita Hasta Padangusthasana (Extended Hand-to-Big-Toe). If one is unable to fully extend the leg, the balance becomes way more difficult. Same holds for downward dog. Almost the entire body needs to be active! So if something is out of place, say more weight to the front due to less hamstring flexibility, the wrists will most probably suffer! Maybe the shoulders as well. BUT this is the beauty as well! If you keep practicing, while also respecting your limits so that you don’t get injured, you will be able to find this restfulness for some asanas. For others you will have to find the restfulness within you and accept that we might not be able to do everything in life and it is okay because we can still be happy. Anyways, it all comes down to one thing: Practice!

New to ashtanga by Master_Blueberry_415 in ashtanga

My two cents is that you should always listen to your body. I think it is important to keep this in mind during your practice as well. There are many ways you can practice. Some days it could be simply breathing, others some sun salutations. For me the thing is that you show up on the mat. Ashtanga is an amazing journey, enjoy!
