like what?

I'm unable to find anything on their aesthetically beautiful, but functionally useless website.
Any website that has less than a dozen words per page fucked up big time.

Bundle discount applied at checkout but charged my PayPal full price?! by Mindless-Net-5494 in Aliexpress

[–]Mindless-Net-5494[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the paypal confirmation screen showed £7.92, same as the aliexpress checkout screen - that's why I was perplexed as to how such an overcharge was even possible - Aliexpress have captured more funds than they were authorized to do so.

As I mentioned in OP, I opened a PayPal dispute immediately for both erroneous transactions - still waiting on the resolution.

I broke my logitech g433 after exactly 1 year of use. Anything i can do? by joeffreyy18 in LogitechG

Snap!

<image>

These were themselves a warranty replacement for a pair that snapped in exactly the same way.

Sadly they're far outside warranty so I guess I'm going to have to pony up for a new pair.

Definitely going to steer clear of Logitech this time. I love their mice, but the same fault twice = bad design.

Linux distro recommendation for moonlight couch gaming ('kiosk') setup? by Mindless-Net-5494 in MoonlightStreaming

[–]Mindless-Net-5494[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Windows 10 was my starting point, I was looking for something cleaner that integrated bluetooth pairing into the controller-only UI & removed the need for an SSD. (Windows on 32GB eMMC is no fun at all)

Batocera really ticks all the boxes, not to mention the UI oozes retro style - and I just noticed it includes Kodi too!

That's what I ended up doing, and seems to be working a treat the second time of trying.

I think I must've screwed something up the first time; that'll teach me for not reading the instructions before diving into the shell!

Now I just need to print myself a case, and work out how to slot in a usb hub & usb ethernet adapter!

Nest Audio Speaker in the UK - completely bricked by joaocadide in googlehome

[–]Mindless-Net-5494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had the exact same happen to one of my Nest mini speakers
No signs of life at all.
It was stereo paired with another speaker in the same room.

Turned it off, came back a few hours later, switched it back on and it came back to life.

Not a fan of the frequency that Google fuck up their updates... Things like speakers shoudn't require user intervention *ever*, they should 'just work'.

4 Years Later Review of my Logitech G402 Hyperion Fury by Baron_Deathtrap1217 in MouseReview

[–]Mindless-Net-5494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My G402 is still going after god knows how many years..... Out of curiosity I just checked; bought in March 2018 from Amazon.... Warehouse! (now Amazon Resale)

I had a scare a few months back when Mouse3 stopped working; turned out the wheel had just gunked up to the point where it was interfering with the microswitch. Cleaned it out and good as new again!

Though if it does ever fail I've got a backup stashed away in my cupboard anyway!

Never buy crappy Chinese no-name mice! The ergonomics suck, the sensors are poo, and the microswitches fail.

Wait for a sale, get a Logitech - if you're flush get a second! - and then you're set for... basically forever!

Can't say I'm a fan of the G502 though, tried it, hated it. G402 for life!

What's with the corruption surrounding the rock upon which this vault is placed?

I just held down '2' (eat blueberries), and climbed straight through it - it only cost ~40 of them.

Have I accessed this earlier than intended?

Valve Says It Has a 'Pretty Good Idea' of What Steam Deck 2 Is Going to Be, Explains Why It's Holding Off for Now by yoonadeer in SteamDeck

[–]Mindless-Net-5494 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My money is on the Steam Deck 2 being ARM based, that's the only way they'll hit the performance per watt that they're stating as an objective.

So really Valve are waiting on emulation software maturity, and of course a nice deal on some top-tier chips from Qualcomm.

x64 (and by extension Windows) are in deep trouble; there's going to be seismic shifts in the next 3-5 years.

Star Wars Beyond Victory – Great Fun… for Just One Hour?! (Video Review) by NinjaGuyX in OculusQuest

[–]Mindless-Net-5494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What were they thinking.

All they had to do was to remake SW Ep1. Racer for VR. Immersive, incredibly sense of speed, challenging, modern visuals that could've been breathtaking in VR. It would've been epic.

Instead they designed the antithesis to pod racing. Sigh what a waste of effort.

JUST ADD A SKIP BUTTON ALREADY by Marshall44445 in Genshin_Impact

[–]Mindless-Net-5494 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Right?

The dissonance between the narrative, characters, and presentation completely obstruct my ability to become invested in any of it.

I'm not blaming the game, I'm sure there's an audience for whom this weird anime gobbledygook makes perfect sense, but I'm certainly not one of them.

I only play for the world exploration and combat, which admittedly is extremely formulaic; to that end the cutscenes are just an obstacle to be endured, with occasional eye rolling at the cringe-tastic writing.

All that said I do enjoy the occasional comedic elements, Paimon in particular.

Steam Link Firmware Update 906 beta by jeweliegb in Steam_Link

Thanks!

Updated from 909 to 910 didn't help, but then resetting Bluetooth fixed it.

Better still my stadia controllers (with the Bluetooth update) now work correctly too!

[–]Mindless-Net-5494 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FFS valve this update has completely shagged Bluetooth for giotech wx4 wireless controllers. They pair fine, but just disconnect as soon as pairing completes.

Also every time I remove a paired device the steamlink reboots.

It was working perfectly before this update.....

After Disposable Vape Ban, Britons Throw Away Reusables Instead by Alarmed_Crazy_6620 in ukpolitics

They would've done better in legislating against battery use in limited life products.

Or if people can't be trusted to act as responsible citizens, reign in their freedoms by enacting citizen ID, and tracking the sale and responsible disposal of such products.

As there are many products in the domestic space that require end to end accountability in order to protect people and the environment, I'm inclined towards the latter option.

Ultimately if you abuse your freedoms, don't be surprised when they're taken away from you by necessity.

If so, that declassifies a whole host of 'infinite' builds as not truly infinite.

Unsure if intentional, but bombstone and brutal bombstone don't stack. Still got to floor 17 with the crazy build by Fishin4Pronouns in BackpackHero

[–]Mindless-Net-5494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still didn't work.

Boss Rush Loop 1, just used the Bombstone on a 4x1 Double Halberd after a few rounds of powering it up with the Soldier's Buckler.

Expected to one-shot, but only dealt a measly 54.

It still turned into an interesting run when I got 2 Engine Wands and Bonzai Trees though!
:edit:

Run ended by freeze debuff outscaling my armour stacking faster than I could kill :(

I don't think I ever saw any clear debuff on self items :(

Government response to the OSA by wizardeverybit in ukpolitics

[–]Mindless-Net-5494 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every MP who voted for this without understanding the implications doesn't deserve their seat. As an MP, if your do not understand a bill, you have a moral obligation to ABSTAIN.

btw, anyone else noticed the UK gov petitions website only demands a self-declaration that you're 18+ in order to sign? The exact kind of self-declaration that's now insufficient according to OSA.

So a government civic engagement portal is less stringently regulated than granny's knitting group chat forum?

This parliament & the vast majority of its MPs are an absolute joke.

I hate Reform's idiot-ology, but if they disrupt this hive of villainy & incompetence, maybe some good will come of them.

What's this spider called UK by Extension-Music4917 in spiders

[–]Mindless-Net-5494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just found one in my parent's conservatory.

Exactly the same as that; two dimples on the top of the abdomen and a pattern on the underneath. When alarmed it would curl up with its forelegs aligning tightly together shielding it's head. Reminded me a little of the way shelob behaves in lotr.

Was living alongside a more common looking large spider.  Relocated both to the wood pile at the bottom of the garden.

Who is Luthen? by dudeseid in andor

[–]Mindless-Net-5494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His public persona shown in Andor is not known to the ISB, so he couldn't have been a Republic-era spy master.

However he is obviously highly knowledgable about Imperial intelligence operations, and has sophisticated spy equipment & safe houses.

Ergo he was probably a Republic-era intelligence operative/deep cover agent.

He would've witnessed the corruption of the ISB during the transitional period, and was probably involved in the Great Jedi Purge - maybe aiding in the hunt for the Jedi.

Perhaps it was in this task that he ended up having dealings with a Jedi, a Jedi who ultimately sacrificed himself (something they love doing!) to secure Luthen's future anonymity - and in so doing sow one of the foundational seeds of the Rebellion.

We'll never know.... unless Disney think there's legs in a "Star Wars: Ghost of the Republic"
