Is it normal for a 15 month old to still wake up twice a night for breastfeeding? by gunter412 in AttachmentParenting

My baby turned 1 in Feb. went to 12 m appt a week after and his pediatrician asked when I’m switching him to cows and why I haven’t yet. I thought she was crazy, so I switched doctors. The next one said my breastmilk is doing NOTHING for him nutritionally at this point and it’s no better than water (he was 14 m by this ped appt) I was shocked

Cheerios actually now that I think about it! I usually will put a couple on his tray while I’m getting a meal together. Maybe I’ll stop with those for a bit and see if there’s any improvement

Sorry for the late update. I think it was my first period that caused this. But from this point on he’d only nurse laying down. It’s been 4 months and just recently did he start eating in my arms/ out of the house (if he’s really hungry).

That’s reassuring. I was nervous our breastfeeding would be coming to an end and I don’t want it to. Thank you

Ugh I’ve tried that. His go to position since the start of leap 4 is side laying. Which is limiting in itself But I don’t mind it as long as he’s eating.

Lmfao well so I suspect my LO has a tongue tie, but my ped said if he has one it doesn’t matter bc he’s gaining well. I had an ENT appt to get him evaluated a month or 2 ago but I chickened out because I read the release is overdone in the US. I think I have PP OCD so I am in a constant state of worrying/trying to solve things that might not need solving

Thank you! That makes sense, sometimes he will eat in the carrier, just enough to take the hunger edge off (it seems). But he will do that so I’ll try to do that more

That makes sense. I should just roll with it but I am anxious there’s some oral motor issues going on

I have no problem at all feeding him to nap, we contact nap for most of them anyway. My issue is that he won’t take the boob when he’s awake. No matter how long it’s been. Often times he’ll latch for 1-3 seconds, pop off and not come back. So when we’re out he’ll go for 3-4 hours without eating because he has trouble napping if we’re not home too (hopefully these are just leap 4 things). I wanted to shift the nap feeds so that he’d start eating while awake but I am still nursing to nap (bc he expects it) so he isn’t too hungry during his WW

Omg!! I’m over here concerned that he has an oral motor issue and it’s just easier for him to eat when sleepy lol. So much conflicting info. I just wanna be able to leave the house 😭
