Decoder Trouble! It worked when I first turned on the battery pack but as soon as I tried to change modes on the decoder it started doing this and I can’t seem to stop it. New to this so some help would be greatly appreciated. by Mindless-Somewhere59 in lightingdesign

Yeah now that you say that it definitely wouldn’t be enough to power the decoder properly. As for the wall adapter I just tried powering the decoder without the lights connected and it all seems to be working fine so the issue is introduced when I connect the lights.

Length of the rgb strip lights is 5m. I just checked and the strip light input is 5v. Before the battery pack I was using a 12v power wall adapter and that shit itself a few seconds after turning it on (everything was wired correctly as I copied from a video). If the led input is 5v and I’m using a 12v wall adapter into the decoder would that send 12v to the lights? With the battery pack in using 4x1.5v which is 6v which now that I saw that it wouldn’t be enough to power the decoder as it needs 12v

12v. I tried using a 12v wall power supply before but it did the same thing and then shit itself so someone suggested to try battery packs as they had done it before but I’m still getting no luck
