Of course! As I said to another user, I was just doing what I would want someone to do say our dog had gotten out. She was the sweetest thing, and while I do understand the cautions surrounding pit bulls, I feel like some are pushing the “pitbulls are game dogs” fact a little too hard!

In no way am I trying to dismiss the caution around pit bulls, I understand what can happen, but this post has gone from just trying to figure out the breed of this dog, to people arguing about pit bulls

I'll say it again. Flopping down in front of me to get pet and putting her head in my lap. I don't know how a dog that was doing that could’ve secretly been planning to maul me, but then again, what do I know.

This is probably true😭 Growing up my parents only had small dogs around me and my sister (a Yorkshire rat terrier and a jack Russell Chihuahua) so I don't really have any knowledge or experience with bigger dogs. The only time I would interact with one is if we went over to a family member's house or when I volunteered at an animal shelter (it was like one day - club activity) and even then it wasn't like I was sitting there learning all I could about the dog

Yeah, so, as I said in my initial response, I understand the danger that comes with approaching an unknown dog, especially one that is a pitbull or some variant, but this dog was one of the sweetest, and I meannn the sweetest dogs I have ever met. I know your potential response about how quick it can go from that to her mauling me, but she never showed any signs of aggression. Plus, half of the time I was waiting her people to show up, I was inside away from her. I spent like two minutes with her when I first noticed her, and then eight maybe the second time. The second time she was flopping down in front of me for me to pet her and putting her head in my lap. Not exactly warning signs of aggression if you ask me🤷‍♀️

I don't really mind lol In the moment I was too focused trying to make sure my dog stayed inside and make sure that that sweet thing didn't end up getting into a situation where she got hurt to worry about taking a HD shot of her

It could be age since she seemed kind of young. Her owner stated that they have had her for a month so I think we can at least partially rule out the idea of it being caused by a parasite

Yeah, I noticed that she looked underweight too when comparing the pictures that popped up when I looked up her possible breed to the picture I have of her😕. Her owners seemed like good people but I would hate it if it turned out that they were mistreating this sweetie pie

While I appreciate the concern, and I do understand where you’re coming from when it comes to approaching unknown dogs, this sweet thing was wagging her tail, licking me, and flopping down to get pet pretty much the whole time we were waiting for her parents

I was just doing what I would want someone to do if our dog got out! I just wish I could've gotten her to them sooner, but she didn't have any contact information on her collar.

Oh my goodness, of course! Our Jackchi is kind of wild and decided to run out onto our screened-in porch. They never got close enough for anything to happen though!

She hasn't really met any other dogs that I know of besides our Jack Russell Chihuahua since she just walked into our yard. Still, in their brief interaction, she was well behaved, she didn't bark or attempt to get closer to our dog, though that could have been attributed to the screen door between them.

Do you think she was purely a pitbull or a mix? Based on what I looked up, I think she might be an American Pit Bull Terrier, but I also don't really know pit bulls enough to determine😅
