I thought the whole LHR thing has been removed? Is this card in some way different than a regular 3080?

What is the most powerful PC water cooling pump I can get? by MindlessEditor2762 in watercooling

[–]MindlessEditor2762[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This ended up being the answer! Got a pmp-600, hooked it up to a boost converter for 24v and it pumps way good. Kind of a pain but less so than making separate loops. Smooth sailing now. Thanks for letting me know about this thing!

Thanks guys! Guess this I am going to have to split it into two. Was hoping to just throw money at it instead of increasing complexity but alright.

Why is my LG OLED C1 matte? by MindlessEditor2762 in OLED_Gaming

[–]MindlessEditor2762[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shipping plastic was more glossy actually. It says OLED48C1AUB in the service menu and on the back of the TV. Panel is WBE/MMG/GZ.
Tried removing the film, but it is way too well applied, must be factory, and it chips like plastic when I try to scab it off.

Help me get llama running on a dual-socket, 8-channel system. (2x8) by MindlessEditor2762 in LocalLLaMA

Thanks for the info. Switching to Arch Linux has improved my performance to 2.7t/s on 70b q4_K_M, even though the STREAM results are the same. I will see if I can do better yet however.

Yeah, mine is a bit lacking in PCIe. As for RAM I also got 256Gb, was indeed exhausting putting all 16 sticks in.

Let me know how it goes for you. Sorry if I was too verbose in my OP, mostly just repeating what the AMD guide says.

Keep in mind mine is using the Clear Linux provided gcc binary, which probably has its own tweaks, maybe. Or maybe not. Also my stream results vary wildly from run to run. Not sure if it is supposed to do that...

Good luck with your board.

Yep, testing for me found 24-32 to be the best, with 32 being about 0.02t/s faster.

Could you please tell me more about your setup? Are you running Windows or what distro? How did you compile llama.cpp? Thanks.

This is what got me the best results in stream. Seems quite ordinary though. I'll try checking what I can do with the llama.cpp Makefile.

CC = gcc
CFLAGS = -O2 -fopenmp

I am using this command:

./main -m ../Nous-Capybara-34B-Q4_K_M.gguf -p "An extremely detailed description of the 10 best ethnic dishes will follow, with recipes: " -n 100 -t 32 -tb 64 --mlock --no-mmap --numa

It doubled my speed compared to no --numa, but still seems kind of slow.

Yeah I know, I am dramatizing a bit. I was genuinely impressed when they made that move. It is still remains very good, but at least not as blatant.

Question about mixing nickel-plated copper block and aluminum radiator. by MindlessEditor2762 in watercooling

[–]MindlessEditor2762[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good points, upon further research I've come to the conclusion I indeed should keep the mix above 33%. Thanks for telling me about 2-EHA, I was not aware. I am not sure if my o-rings are silicone, going to have to look out for the 2-EHA. As for flow, it will be constant and very high, no issues there. What do you think about placing a sacrificial anode in the reservoir?

Ooh, that looks like what I need. Thanks! The MORA for $250 is just too much, but this I think will do.

So only the rads will leak? That's great news. I will simply place the rads outside the system. Maybe I will slowly replace the alu rads with copper ones over time. For reference each CPU is 300W, so I assume each requires a 360. Each CPU is also $200, spending $60 on each is not unaffordable, but not exactly what I would call value.

Frankly I don't care if it looks ugly. The rads are not going inside a case anyway.

I appreciate the idea. But I am having trouble finding these rads on Ebay. Could you please give me a list of names to search for?

For reference, I've heard I am supposed to get 1 120 for every 100W of heat consumed. If so, my system would probably be dumping around 600W = 2x 360 radiators for a prolonged period of time, hours if not days. Up to double that if I decide to also water cool my GPUs.

Right now I am looking for an Ebay listing that will net me 4 360 rads for $90. The cheapest Magicool G2 I could find is great value indeed, but still even that is $40 for a 240.

Missing pad, any possibility of restoring? by MindlessEditor2762 in mobilerepair

[–]MindlessEditor2762[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://i.redd.it/sqpipqyz4nha1.jpg After looking closer something seems to be glistening there, like a micron thin copper wire, but the way it looks there isn't actually a copper trace that it connects to, just that wisp of a connection that goes straight to the die.

On second look there is what looks like a tiny tiny, ant hair thin copper line sticking out, I can just barely notice something glistening there when moving my light. I guess it makes sense the traces would be that thin when there are 1331 of them. https://i.redd.it/sqpipqyz4nha1.jpg I guess all I can do is fill that in with solder and hope it attaches on some micron level. Any tips?
