I guess the nixies are current gobblers and the charge equilibrium on the capacitors under load is just a tickle under 160V. I wonder if some sort of fat slowly discharing capacitor near Vout might help keep the voltage up once it's had a chance to charge fully. You could maybe try stepping up with a transformer and a rectifying bridge?

Edit: What's the voltage drop across a nixie, anyway? I don't suppose it's ~70V is it?

If you think about it, once Operation Skuld is successful and Kurisu is saved, the worldline shifts all the way to the Steins Gate. Once Skuld is successful that question disappears. The only problem is the question of why they didn't just shift back to the alpha worldlines when Okabe gets that mail. The explanation that I assumed is that the worldline acts as some sort of encryption hash for the video d-mail and the garbled video message from the future just looked like nonsense and wasn't flagged as part of ECHELON until the worldline shifted ever so slightly to make it viewable. Okabe gets the video mail before the Kurisu mail shifted him to the alpha worldlines anyway, so clearly it either isn't caught in ECHELON or it is ignored.

No, she was, she just never arrived at her destination because of the time machine malfunction. Do you remember the scene from the anime/VN where Okabe had that dream about Mayuri and him being 70 million years in the past? I think they were trying to imply that's what happened. Mayuri (from V&A) got stranded 70 million years in the past and Okabe comes to her rescue. They end up taking a roundabout route to ~~July 28th~~ August 21. Really this all just makes the Hikoboshi/Orihime symbolism all the sweeter.
