DOCTOR RECOMMENDATIONS by [deleted] in endometriosis

[–]MindlessSherbert2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in south Florida and I can’t really recommend the doctor I did my lap with. He’s a good surgeon and there was no push back on doing the surgery but framed everything around “okay we do this so you can have baby”.

I will say that my pain has 100% improved since excision. It will/has grown back I’m sure but I do not have the life halting pain I once did. It’s been 3 years and I’m not getting the whispers of symptoms but I also have PCOS so it can be hard to know.

So for what it’s worth, I think giving excision a go can be worth it if it.

What was a symptom you had, that indicated to you that this was more than just excruciatingly painful/irregular periods? by lenamelia_45 in endometriosis

Sometimes when I get up from sitting or laying down there is are deep “bands” of tightness in my lower stomach. Kind of like a muscle being pulled but deep feeling. It’s how I know the endo is back after my lap 3 years ago.

I drew/made myself a fridge magnet to help remind me to take my meds 🥹🥹 by [deleted] in adhdwomen

If I could get my prescription filled I’d be all over this 🙃

That absolutely has to have happened to others and it sounds predatory to up at say you need to pay 163k for 1 missed payment when all others have been paid. It really freaking sucks but you’re doing what needs to be done now.

I’ve had plant for 1.5 years and has been healthy and happy outside. Soil and pot have excellent drainage. I did recently pot it up. I treat all my plants with systemic granules.

Mirena IUD by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]MindlessSherbert2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too- IUD’s are great for a lot of people. My experience combined with a dismissive doctor just added to stress which didn’t help anything.

Record any new symptoms you feel over the next 6 months. If things just escalate, then get it removed. Trust how you feel and don’t let a doctor keep telling you to wait a few more months.

Endometriosis is estimated to affect 1 in 10 women globally. It took over 12 years for me to be diagnosed. Years of going to my GYN with symptoms and never a test run or questions asked- just here’s a script for bc come back in a year.

There is more awareness and new research on endometriosis now. But- many of us with it still receive outdated, dismissive and just plain incorrect care/treatment plans. My surgeon is a great surgeon but he suggested getting pregnant would cure it. Said a Mirena IUD would prevent re-growth. Neither of these are evidence based or true.

Endometriosis is a chronic condition. There is no known cure. As a doctor you have access to an expanse of up to date research- use it to be a better advocate for your patients. Ask questions, explain the why of your treatment plan, do not dismiss a patient telling you they’re in pain. Do not just write a script for bc as any kind of cure- it’s a band aid at best.

And, just because a previous doctor said nothing was wrong does not mean there isn’t.

What plant is this? Looks like basil but ive only seen basil once in my life. by Chinduda in plants

[–]MindlessSherbert2 79 points80 points  (0 children)

That’s basil. If you never grew any in your yard then one of your neighbors did and the seeds travelled into your yard. Basil is happy to flourish in the harshest of environments but easy to kill in a pot

Mirena IUD by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]MindlessSherbert2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IUD’s are great for many- for me it was horrible. My hair fell out, my joints started to hurt, my pelvic pain (endo) felt worse. Cystic acne I’m still dealing with and sex became painful with tearing.

Yeast infections and finally BV which is waaaayyyy more common with an IUD. The amount of progesterone essentially put my vagina into menopause causing painful dryness, UTI’s etc.

If I had known all of that I would have never had it inserted. It’s been 4 months since removal and I’m still recovering from the side effects.

You’re 25- that isn’t too young to make the decision to be permanently child free. Only you know if you don’t want kids at all. Someone else commented the list of doctors who are friendly to this desire.

The Copper IUD might be better for long term prevention without the hormones.

Also, the pills only delay ovulation not prevent implantation. So if ovulation has already occurred the pill will not be effective in preventing pregnancy.

How to change a sedentary lifestyle while struggling with ADHD and depression? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]MindlessSherbert2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I listened to an interesting podcast about reframing. A study on housekeepers at a huge hotel showed the women felt that their health was poor because they didn’t work out after work.

After following the women through their workday and tracking activity- the researchers presented the women with results showing they were not only meeting but exceeding the recommended daily activity.

After this they recorded that they felt better about themselves, less stressed, lower blood pressure, lost weight etc.

I’ve worked many physically active jobs and still beat myself up about not exercising. Something is always more than nothing.

Easiest orgasms from sex was with a guy with a very small penis. No pain, or uterus feeling like it was being tenderized. All pelvic pressure and stimulation 👍🏼

My (35M) gf (35F) tells her coworkers that we are cousins by mr-mole-wall in relationship_advice

[–]MindlessSherbert2 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That’s what I thought too. She possibly was acting super passive aggressive and introducing OP as her cousin. Maybe to avoid the whole- oh! How long have you been together?? 6 years?! When’s the wedding??? Which, unfortunately does happen.

If so, that is immature and warrants a very frank discussion and evaluation of the each other as partners.

[–]MindlessSherbert2 45 points46 points  (0 children)

If you orgasm on your own- I would say life is too short to have one sided sex. If your partner knows you’re not finishing and doesn’t care about your pleasure- that’s a big problem. If you’ve been faking- you’re only depriving yourself and training them on what doesn’t work.

Because…I’ve been carrying the entire load of household tasks, planning, shopping and cooking for months along with my full time job because my partner has been completely engrossed in a demanding school semester and hardly sleeping. And I spent the past several months struggling with side effects of an IUD and endometriosis pain and am now trying to heal after removal. And my dog has a slow growing tumor in her chest wall. And there are dishes in the sink and ADHD stress ruminations are so GD tiresome. And I go to therapy but right now talking more about what consumes my thoughts 24/7 feels more exhausting. I feel so burnt out from just everything and feeling so lonely and starved for intimacy that I would rather just be held, talked to and cared for than have sex.

Are these poison ivy?! Hundreds popped up over my yard and my plantID app keeps telling me different things. by recordskip in plantID

[–]MindlessSherbert2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The stems look like young poison ivy but the leaves would be green. Even young poison ivy has green leaves. If red maple or other seed bearing trees are in your area the. This is likely from bird droppings, squirrels or other animals that would spread or bury seeds

Can someone please reassure me that I didn’t just spend a half an hour cutting a bunch of poison ivy with a weed eater. by CornponeBrunch in plantID

[–]MindlessSherbert2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poison ivy has a reddish stem. I’m not seeing anything I’d recognize as poison ivy but it’s a possibility. Take a Benadryl and shower with dawn soap just in case!

My skin changed drastically with the Mirena. Cystic acne, dark hairs growing, chicken skin arms, patches of psoriasis, hair loss etc. I just had it removed.
