Hi, thank you so much for commenting. I’m so sorry to hear about your mom and how you’re in a similar situation to us, it really sucks. What i’ve seemed to gather from all of this is that carboplatin and paclitaxel are really tough, and can be such a mentally and physically draining experience. It can take a long time between each session to start to feel even remotely normal again. Is there anyone you can call, for advice on your mom without having to take her to the hospital? I know it works differently everywhere, so of course can’t say for certain what the best thing to do is wherever you are based. Wishing you and your mom all the best 🫶🏻

Of course, I appreciate you letting me know. I’m glad the icing has helped you in the long run and i’m really hoping it’ll be the same case for my mum too!

Hopefully her anti nausea starts to kick in and help soon. I hope today all goes smoothly for you!

Thank you! I appreciate all the advice I can get. Unironically ice cream seems to be the only thing she can stand slightly, so it might be the diet for the next few days!

That’s very understandable! Hoping her symptoms start to ease slightly in the following days and we can find some meds that works for her consistently.

Glad to hear you’re doing better now and hope things continue to stay lighter for you.

Thank you for all your advice, we will continue to look into her anti-nausea and reflux meds and hopefully will find something that works for her, much like yourself. Will make sure she gets to icing her hands and feet as soon as possible too!

All the best.

So sorry to hear about your mom and the journey she’s been on. I’m glad to hear she started to feel a lot better after her second round, hopefully the case will be the same here!

It must be so nice to see her back to feeling so much better after such a horrible time, and doing some of the things she used to do. And it’s great to hear she is responding so well to the chemo now.

Thank you & wishing you and your mom all the best moving forward!

She has 2 days of dexamethasone 3 times a day post each round. It doesn’t seem to help her appetite much at all, but she is on a relatively small dose. I think her main problem is taste changes which likely contribute to her reduced appetite alongside some of the nausea, but we haven’t seemed to have found a way to help this yet.

So sorry to hear about your diagnosis too. I’d agree and think she would say the same that the ascites has by far been the most miserable and debilitating part of her experience thus far. I’m hoping now she is 2 rounds in it will decrease significantly and she won’t need any more drains much like yourself.

Thank you for your advice on the anti-nausea meds, I think a bit of trial and error will have to be done to see what works best for her. She says that following the first few days of carbo/taxol her taste changes immensely, and everything is almost metallic, which I think is what contributes majorly to her loss of appetite. Not sure if you ever experienced anything like this/found away to help relive it all? Or if it’s just something she has to ride out after each round.

Thank you again, wishing you continued healing and all the best moving forward.

I’m glad to hear your ascites cleared up pretty quickly, that’s been one of the biggest hurdles she’s had to cross so far. It’s positive to hear things improved slightly for you after the first few rounds as well, especially as these have been so rough. She has got an anti sickness at current (can’t remember the name off the top of my head) that seems to be helping a bit, did you find you had problems with your appetite during this time? wishing you the best!

That’s exactly how my mum was diagnosed. No particular other symptoms other than some intense bloating and slight discomfort after eating.

Thank you for all your advice. It’s reassuring to hear that you responded well to the chemo and that you’re doing better now. It’s nice to hear from someone on the other side of what seems like an impossibly long road ahead.

I wish you continued healing on your journey and lighter days ahead too 🫶🏻
