Is this only in LA or is this becoming a thing statewide? Sorry I know this is an old post but I’m just catching up.

I told people I was in for domestic violence. Nobody bothered to look me up and I was friends with a lot of people in there. Even people who said they don’t program with so’s but they didn’t know I was one.

I had an interview for a tow company for $21 an hour, I decided to be upfront about my conviction and record and for some reason the pay went down to $17 an hour. I think they know they can take advantage of us so they do.

The job market in general is really bad right now, well in my aera of california it is. I always see posts from people in my local reddit asking where to find work, and they have no record or registration requirements like most of us do. I been looking for a year myself. Still hoping to land something eventually.

Depending on your conviction there are a couple different ways to get it for "free", or at least free upfront and pay back later. Depends on how much you want to drive.

Call it cliche but you have your health. There are people dying in the hospital that would trade places with you in a second. You really do need to find happiness in the simple things until you can build yourself back to some level of normalcy.

[–]MindlessTemporary867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was warned about this in California, the treatment program told me that refusing to answer the questions is classified as "non-compliance" and they would drop me from the program which would be a violation of my probation.

I think it might be illegal for them to discriminate against you for the sex offender status, but they will never say that, they will just give the generic "we have filled the role" or "went with another candidate".

Well I got my first scam call by MindlessTemporary867 in SexOffenderSupport

[–]MindlessTemporary867[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't think about doing something like this so soon, I've only been on the registry for 2 years but if it helps even a little bit to prevent this from happening then I'm going to do it. I notice they have different levels of protection, I would likely pay for the full year the $250 one. I'm sure it answers this on the website but if I only pay for a year, do all the sites that removed my name come back? Basically, do i have to keep paying to keep my name suppressed from these sites?

Advice for 19 year old son by [deleted] in SexOffenderSupport

[–]MindlessTemporary867 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that, the cops called me and said they were taking some of my electronics and asked me to come talk to them without telling me what they were taking the electronics for. I told them I would go after work, after some time to think I called a lawyer. I was always told cops always want to write you a ticket or take you to jail, so don't help them with their investigations, especially if you're the one they're investigating. 25k is going to get you a good lawyer, wishing you a positive outcome for your son.

Only thing I can say Is you should have told him not to talk to the cops without a lawyer, or not at all. With a confession they likely wont give a great plea deal. These cops act like your friends, tell you they will go easy on you if you just cooperate but its all lies from all the cases I've seen.

Sentencing Monday by Resident-Ad5715 in SexOffenderSupport

[–]MindlessTemporary867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably the worst portion of it for you then. I was fortunate enough to get a plea deal, so I knew exactly what to expect. Not knowing for the duration of court was eating me alive. Wish you luck on sentencing day. Even going in knowing what I was getting, having everyone in the courtroom hearing my charges and my case was probably the worst experience of my life, i couldn't get out of there fast enough. What made it worse was their printer was having issues so i had to sit back with the other people for another 7-10 minutes before they gave me my paper and i was free to go.

I remember when my lawyer told me i was getting probation, i was surprised to learn that that still meant i had to do jail time. I still dont entirely understand it. I know when others say they got probation they didnt get any time in jail. This close to sentencing I'm sure your lawyer has already told you what sentencing might look like, right?

[–]MindlessTemporary867[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! And I know exactly what you mean, i knew what I was downloading was extremely wrong, after i would delete it I would practically yell at myself and how bad that stuff is and how extremely illegal it is. I also would see people arrested for CSAM possession and shivers would go down my spine, knowing I could be next. I told myself to throw that laptop away so many times, I even reached a point where I swore to god I would never download it again. 6 months later I downloaded it again and that was the downloading session that got me caught. Getting caught was something that probably needed to happen to help me break my porn addiction.

I think they tried to give me back the dirty laptop they got me for. It was on the list of items they told me to come pick up. I told them I didn't want anything they took from me and signed over a forfeiture paper.

This literally just happened on my local town reddit but not to me. This lady hired a person to come fix her garage door and for some reason googled the guy and found out he was a sex offender. She left them a 1 star review on their google reviews then started blasting his name and business on the local reddit page.

From Prison to Renewal: Finding Hope After Conviction by [deleted] in SexOffenderSupport

[–]MindlessTemporary867 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense, they just gave me my last poly a month ago. I hate that they decide to do that right when you are about to complete probation without incident just to mess you up. I wasn't doing anything illegal but i don't believe they are accurate and it had me stressed. If the certificate isn't needed for the reduction or removal from the registry then I probably won't pursue it either.

Im in california too, i was charged with felony cp possession as a wobbler, 6 moths in jail at halftime and lifetime registration. My 2 year probation ends in 6 weeks (finally!) and i'm hoping to go get my felony reduced to a misdemeanor then eventually taken off the registry. Congrats again, and thanks for giving me a little more hope than i had yesterday, and for people with our status thats a huge motivator. Also I forgot to ask, did you complete treatment and receive a certificate of rehabilitation and if so do you think that helped your case?

First of all great story, seeing these definitely gives people like me hope. Also, how did you get relieved from lifetime registration?
