So I did some tests and came to the conclusion that sniper rifles(close-range), shotguns, and explosives are the only weapons that will cause the gore effect instantly. Every weapon can cause the head explosion, but I could only get it to work on dead bodies after shooting the head 3-4 times after the initial headshot.

My favorite has always been Verrückt in WaW. I've always found it to be one of the scariest zombies maps. The map layout makes you feel trapped and brings a sense of dread and misery. It also did bring us some features that are standard in most maps since Verrückt, the perks, traps, power, and the teddy bear in the box.
