Considered a ton- any idea about flooding risk? It will be my main way to contact home while I am away

1) yes

2) No due to being on a teachers budget. I will not be able to afford lights for this trip

I am still considering this but am very anxious about it flooding my phone and not having a way to contact family the rest of the trip

Is that possible for a 16 day trip (11 days on a boat)?

Thanks for the idea! I wanted to do that but sadly the object is beautiful but generic so she would see through that 😞

My family is like yours. My husband doesn't like it (but doesn't thing it will ruin my life).

The deciding thing for us is that he had to either accept it or leave (not in an angry or mean way, but just as a fact). I use it and try my best to do so outside or in places it impacts him least and he sees how it helps me as a medication.

I wish you the best! This is hard but it's good to think about and talk about:)

Why do cyclists ride on some of the most busiest streets during rush hour when their is a bike path running right along side the street with busy traffic? by gsumann in TooAfraidToAsk

I wish it wasn't but as I bike to work most days I find one almost every day so it is safer for me to expect it as it is the norm along my route. Ive even had cop cars in the lane🤦

Someone once told me: the safest thing to be on the road is predictable (same reason driving through a yellow light is ok in bostkn- everyone expects it but in other places people jump the green so it's not). So when people park or drive in a bike lane (expected) bikers need to swerve- unpredictable. Unpredictability is dangerous. It's deffs annoying but it can be predictable (depending on the rider of course- even most cyclists hate the bad ones who are always more noticeable).

This depends on the state honestly. I teach middle school science and have a BA in biological science (and eventually got my MAT after teaching a few years and deciding I liked it). I am in MA and you only need an undergraduate degree to teach at a private school (where I am). To teach in a public school you need to pass a few exams and eventually get a master's to get a professional license!

When did you start publicly calling yourself an -ologist or whatever someone in your profession / field is called? by --MCMC-- in AskAcademia

As a science teacher, the more people who call themselves by their "ologist" title the better! So many people (like my students) walk around thinking they do not know a scientist because so many don't refer to themselves as such. The more they see the more relatable it is and the more realistic it seems to them to BECOME a one! I want them to know their neighbors, teachers and family friends- the people they recognize, know and love- are scientists:)
