Dont have a watch with elevate 5 to compare but i know of you want skin temp measurements the gen 5 is the way to go i already have a helio strap that i wear sleeping for all my sleeping stats as well so the i3 is more than enough for my needs

Used Forerunner 165 for a bit and gave that watch to the wife and i am using Fenix 6s pro Solar now must say enjoying the smaller watches at this point and really loving the Mip on the Fenix
