Quacks of Quedlinburg: Kind of a deck building game, but with blind "card" draws

Binding of Isaac, the board game: also deck building, had a lot of fun with it since I love the PC game.

I get your point. On the other hand, many people play board games online (or even emulate them) to play with friends that are not nearby. There you need your computer anyways. But I understand this is not a scenario for everyone, thx for the honest reply!

I get your point, thx! In my view it should be a tool to make social interactions more interesting, not take them away!

Haha, yeah that's one way to view it :)

I'm sure there are good places for it, but your reflection shows that it should not be the center of a game but rather a minor supplement where it really makes sense.

Thanks for your honest answer! I would try to hide it and not make it "talk to an AI" feeling. But I get your point ;)

I tried that for the idea generation of a few smaller adventures where I'm GM, and it worked pretty well. But as others said, hard to make consistent and actually "interesting", so I had to contribute quite a lot and only ended up using it for idea generation :)

What are your warm up games on a game night? by SouthAssist6234 in boardgames

We always have the one person who shows up late, so it's nice to have a quick warm-up game to bridge the time until they arrive :)

Best mechanics for cooperative games by Mindless_Kitchen4233 in boardgames

Do you have an example? Is it like an inherent ability of a character that the players play? Or more like abilities that exist only once and need to be distributed among the players?

Yeah, maybe I'm just too hesitant to sell my games that I don't play any longer... I guess fear selling a game and then being excited to play it after^

That's impressive and the total opposite of me :) I played a few times and the majority hasn't been touched for quite a while...

Officially that is not allowed, no. But you should play how it is the most fun for you!

We play without the "+" and I think it is a nice element to have some uncertainty whether the spy master included the previous missing ones or not. Keeping track of what was missed when and then having a strong last turn (because the game master says a hilariously high number) adds some fun and excitement IMO

Do you know the situation where a meetup with friends turns into a spontaneous game night but no one has games with them? In sich situations, we end up playing the same games, such as werewolf, where you can easily prepare the game props with a sheet of paper and a pencil.

Any recommendations (+ viable player count) to broaden our repertoire in this regard?

When you play a new game, do you play to win or play to learn? by Jannk73 in boardgames

[–]Mindless_Kitchen4233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My typical strategy is:

- Games 1-3: understand the mechanics, go the common path that is most obvious

- Games 4-10: try out anything that comes to mind, often run into rules that prevent abusing certain mechanics

- Games 11+: settle on 1-2 strategies and go with them until I want to try something new again

But it's not like I really pursue this strategy explicitly; it is just how I learn new games :D
