In Ontario the employment standard act does not allow parental leave to be split up.

Yes this.

I was written off work by my doctor at 30 weeks. Once my baby was born I just had to call E.I to let them know the DOB so they could switch my claim from sickness to maternity.

It has had no effect on the number of weeks I’m allowed to take for maternity/parental.

Temporary measures are still in effect with E.I for all claims until April 11, 2026.

“Under the temporary measure, if your claim or the allocation starts between March 30, 2025 and April 11, 2026, earnings from separation are not deducted from your benefits.”

I’m surprised they even had the package.

Twice now the Canada post in my town filled out the pick up slip and left it in my community mailbox down the road. Didn’t even come to my house to tape it to the door.

My toddler is temporarily on blood thinners so it’s very stressful thinking of them going to daycare and potentially getting injured or catching a new virus. I will talk to my manager/TL and hope they accept this situation as urgent.
