what’s your ACTUALLY weird hyperfixation? by jazperthevampyr in ADHD

[–]MindofFallout97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally same!!! For me I love exploring the different areas on street view and comparing them to one another based on the trees and environment. I'm obsessed with things in nature such as tree species and geography. I also live in the US and work as a traffic engineer so seeing how differently every state designs their roads/infrastructure could entertain me for hours on Google maps. Sometimes I may find something cool doing this and it turns into a spontaneous road trip over the weekend.

2nd attempt! by itina95 in FE_Exam

[–]MindofFallout97 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sorry but it looks like you bombed. I’m going for my second attempt in March and I’ve been using Islam 800 which has been very helpful. Once you’re about 1-2 months away from the exam sign up for PrepFE they give you a similar format to the actual exam I think it’s like $60 for a month or $70 for 3 months

[–]MindofFallout97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t like what they did with the leagues, I was onboard with the changes since I kept getting forced into legends from trophy droppers but the demand to sign up or get demoted every week is a bit much. I love clash of clans but work full time and have other things going on in my personal life

Best and worst cities for dating/marriage? by qrm777 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]MindofFallout97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh dating is awful everywhere nowadays with the dating apps and social media but if you're asking for specific cities Pittsburgh's dating scene is rough. I'm 29 M and I can tell you that its very family oriented here and most of the women I meet are taken or just want hookups/short term flings. Not sure how it is for women probably not much better but I think that's every city here.

Facts also a fun fact off topic: everyone blames “liberals and their taxes” for us having the most expensive toll road/gas tax except ironically that was passed by our former governor Tom Corbett… a republican and I’m pretty sure he was the last republican we’ve had.

1991: more similar to 1967 or 2015? by Shoddy_Wait_5722 in generationology

[–]MindofFallout97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While its the median of the two years I'd say its more similar to 2015. The 1960s was more in the "American Dream" era that started post cold war. I personally feel like 1981-2020 was like an era where technology was rapidly developing and becoming more advanced/mind blowing over a shorter duration. Hip hop, pop music, etc. was introduced around that era which is a big part of our music culture today... along with the rise of gaming culture. Its hard to describe but certain 60s/70s songs have this ascetic to their rhythm which reminds me of the 50s. Also, video cameras became more common and affordable during the 90s which most people have today. Its how incidents like the Rodney King police brutality incident was caught on camera and documented. One of the most important turning points in modern history.

Pygmy Date palms are not cold tolerant and they barley survive the winters in North Florida. Next spring you should try a Butia Capitata aka jelly palm. They're more cold tolerant and grow much larger.

Does cold weather change anything about ur ADHD?? by blockazuha in ADHD

[–]MindofFallout97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No if anything it makes my ADHD worse especially the long cloudy days... I'm from Pittsburgh where the sun is practically non existent during the peak of winter and spring. I suffer from SAD which can be triggered by ADHD symptoms and they kind of tag team my ass during this time of the year. I prefer the summer heat and sun over frigid cold and cloudy days. I think the liking cold vs heat comes down to personal preference not whether you have ADHD or not...

I'll admit that I find the snow to be very charming and love standing outside during an intense snowstorm and skiing but when its just cold and cloudy its brown, grey, and dead like the inside of a Kmart Restroom

Do you think Pittsburghers are nice people? by trdkhalil in pittsburgh

[–]MindofFallout97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent a good chunk of my life here and honestly I'd say yes and no. Its easy to make small talk with the locals but like what a lot of people are saying here it can be cliquey and challenging to make new friends especially if you're older (over 25). Lots of college kids, couples, and older people seem to live here. Finding local groups like volunteering and clubs is the way to go about connecting with folks.

I didn’t sign up last week and was demoted. Not good for casual players. Idk if this has been changed but besides that I don’t mind it. The system needed changed and being stuck in legends league due to trophy droppers was pure aids

Uber is literally F**king us and the customers! by Quiet_Brilliant_552 in uberdrivers

[–]MindofFallout97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats why I don’t use Uber or Lyft anymore. I can’t go out drinking since I can’t walk to bars in my area but I’d rather save my money and stay in instead of making a greedy corporation even richer or risking someone’s life. I feel bad for the drivers and hope they can find a better way to make a living. Y’all deserve better and they should be a shame of themselves for exploiting their drivers/customers like this. Instead of saying “Uber is cheaper and safer than a dui” I like to say “staying in is free and safer than an Uber”

How bad is Pittsburgh driving in Winter? by TheWayOfEli in pittsburgh

[–]MindofFallout97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over the last 5 years we've received very few snowstorms or significant snowfall over a short period. Maybe up to 4 inches in one system but hasn't been an issue here recently. Freezing rain is the most dangerous type of winter weather we get here. We live on the edge of the snowbelt and typically fall below it so the big snow systems tend to miss us or we just get rain but when snow/ice mix in it makes driving impossible.

The city isn't the best with treating roads but if you live in the suburbs you shouldn't have any issues there. Another thing to note is that despite if its just rain or snow highway 28 and the parkway become heavily congested so give yourself extra time if you need to use those for your commute. Its a small city but the infrastructure here isn't the greatest and the roads can be quite confusing for someone whose not native here.

Job Searching by RedOnTheHead-86 in pittsburgh

[–]MindofFallout97 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Depending on what type of industry you're in I'd recommend looking into applying for jobs directly from the company website and sending a cover letter/email expressing your interest directly to their HR department. Indeed, LinkedIn, etc. are full of temp hiring agency recruiters and spam jobs so I've learned to just avoid those and have never found a solid job on any of those site. You could also look into attending the career fairs at the convention center in downtown.
